Fine. But I come itt thinking there may be a way to abolish landlords under capitalism but I don’t learn anything about it. Then I wish this thread was about capitalism vs socialism instead.

    thats kinda the thing tho.

capitalists will never allow for the abolishment of landlords because that would be at odds with its subscription to the profit motive, where everything including land can be a commodity. so even if it was technically possible, it would never happen under capitalism

so the logical conclusion would be that we need to move to a socialist society.

Do you believe one can play by the rules of capitalism to make positive changes in the world?

I mean capitalism has the idea of a consumer to counteract that.

The problem with bad landlords is the lack of alternatives available. The Covid-19 situation is very unique and it's the deepest recession in decades. The situations you see occurring rn are not systemic or comparable to problems with lack of affordable housing during a booming economy. We see middle/working class rn suffering who don't have housing benefits, not just the usual poor.

For the current situation rent/mortgage payments freezes are the solution, but Mitch McConnell doesn't want to support that. He's even been holding off on more aid being put out more businesses even, not even just the households.

Under normal circumstances I think systems like section 8 work fine and would be better off being expanded while things like project/public housing are cut. Section 8 housing is not always in bad areas, not of the long it's situated in middle to even upper middle neighborhoods. It's a workable solution along with implementation of basic income.

Here is an example of his nonsense that he has been at for years over 300k+ posts:

Whilst I do agree with the stance in this thread, he is absolutely trolling because he is bored. He is inconsistent and does not provide any arguments. You disagree with him and he will claim you are a troll and put you on ignore. If you ask him to take it to a place where the discussion might thrive, as you asked, he will tell you he wants to discuss with 'normal people'. Then he will turn around and tell you ktt is filled with imbeciles and racists.

so if even during the best of times there will be homeless people and a lack of affordable housing, doesn't that tell you something about the system?

Well you won't ever solve homelessness, but we do have too much of it. And it goes beyond the economic system you want to be using. That said, there's a lot of work/policy that can help out a lot like basic income and section 8 expansion that isn't mutually exclusive to a capitalism.

also true. Stalin was kinda trash at the end of the day and its funny seeing how the tables turned with more people in Russia despising him and more people in the States growing to like him and what he stood for

i think "kinda trash" is a bit light on someone who induced a famine which killed 4 million people

you said they give people places to live

so that implies if there were no landlords, people wouldn't have places to live

if this were the case, if landlords disappeared those places would disappear. you see how this is illogical right?
