Don’t let him get to you bro there’s always that one guy. This album getting universal praise.

    I know.

I just hate that polite politics s*** & using a vague political ideal to hide or cover up what you really mean/believe.

Dont want this to come off the wrong, but im half black n half white (idk if he is white but thayt doesnt matter), n one of the best things about being mixed is that you get to see "behind the curtain" that get buried or downplayed.

Its a common thing with hateful & overly religious white people. I know because some my own extended white family has done it to I/us.

    Just stop tip toeing.

He’s a convicted rapist, literally just contradicts what he says about sexual violence in black communities

Gemini two sides. He’s speaking from Kendricks dark side. Keem is the other side of the coin on the second half.

It is an interesting choice. Maybe he believes that he changed, probably understandable because Kendrick appears to have forgiven himself quite a lot

yes personally for me i find it odd to have a song about sexual violence and a guy who plead guilty to assaulting a high schooler is featured 3 times on the album

    Glad youre improving yourself

Yeah, im the person people usually use as a scapegoat to minimize their own or someone elses issues because ive a person that been plagued with health issues since a baby (i hate when ppl do that s*** too).

Its a saying i came up with to counter that, and to also not try to make my own issues "insignificant" for myself.

I'm trying to, don't know how well I'm doing though Sorry to hear that you've been dealing with health issues And that's a good attitude to have. You one of my favorite posters, even when you had the dog with the grill as your avy. I always value your insight on games and music

Did u hear the Auntie Diaries song yet?

Would kike to know ur personal thots.

I finally listened to it closely a few hours ago.

Yep I couldn't listen to the albim on release day because I was moving around in different houses and cities so I didn't have an opportunity for a proper listen, but I did read the lyrics to that song just to see what it was about, and now that I have listened to it the lyrics work way better with his tone and the way he raps on the song. I really was moved by the tenderness in his voice and the way the beat built up, very beautiful and it really made it seem like a genuine attempt at trying his best at talking about such a topic, that is admittedly pretty complicated for most cis people. So while I'm not really ok with the dead naming and misgendering of his cousin and uncle throughout the song, I get why he did it, same for the repeated usage of the f slur. I get it but ultimately it's some of those things where no matter how you put it its gonna sound weird you know... But overrql I like the song, it even made me cry, and I think its nice slmeobe of that stature made such a song on such a topic, especially in this time period where trans people are getting threatened across the USA and the world

Does anybody know where those piano chords from Crown is from? Feel like I remember it from a movie (a sad scene during an animated one for some reason) or maybe a piano piece I did during lessons when I was a kid But it's really familiar

Idk but a lot of this album sounds so familiar, like it’s been here before but it also sounds like it’s an album from the future. Crazy feeling.

    Congrats on ur move!

And thats dope! Thats a similar feeling i had.

I am straight myself but i have one trans friends, gay dude friend & one my aunties are lesbian.

I thought the song was overall sweet lmao. I do admit if you just read the lyrics or see someone post the hook as just words without context it comes off very bad to the point you might not even want to hear the song itself, which is what i think has happened to some people unfortunately.

But overall the song came off to me as him loving his auntie (uncle) & him basically apologizing to him & realizing everything.

The "auntie is a man now" seems to be a child version of himself learning about it but not fully understanding it. While the f words parts are just him not sugarcoating how things used to be, but i can see both those coming too hatsh especially without context, but even with.

But overall the song is about him recounting his memories of his uncle in the past to at the end them finally reconnecting after years when he fully transistioned.

His uncle was always one of his family members, and from his kids perspective he didnt understand why people were bashing his uncle. Some of his family outcasting him, some of the church he used to go out calling him a "devil" etc. even though he liked his uncle & would hangout with him even during those times.

And as time goes, his uncle tries to break down n explain why the "f word" is bad among other things like why people call him a weirdo, and as he got older he realizes more things about that conversation.

Its a really sweet song which i think the tone of his voice lends a lot of help with too. A song about the love he always had for his uncle, but also an apology. Apologizing for his past ignorances & the eventual distancing the family caused. Also him growing up over time realizing more and more things.

I do believe trans people have the right to feel how they want about the song, but i also hope those thay feel so syrongly against have listened to the track at least. I do agree some of it can come off as harsh, or just plain shocking, but once i finally listened to it im glad its obvious hes coming from a sentimental & loving place while not shying away from his past ignorances.

Its genuine even though an outsider talking about something that deals with the insiders will never be fully satisfactory.
