I keep hearing about how good the album is but those first week predictions are way too close to ice spices for people to like her as much as they say they do?

So whats the real story with her music? Im not really a fan but its probably not for me but there is a definitely a disconnect.

It’s the same when fat b****es get surgery and they post about the “gym life” one time after the surgery so they seem legit

A lot of them are more famous for their looks and personality than their actual music, but Latto seems like she actually has a decent fanbase.

I'd say the numbers are on par with her "hype" She rlly don't be doing big listening numbers like that outside of a few exceptions

    Or does it.

It’s not really a her issue, it seems to be a problem plaguing newer female rappers.

Almost all of them are super viral online, very popular celebrities, and all of them have big hit singles.

But literally none of them are capable of dropping an album that can sell at least 100K first week, and I’m not sure why.

Literally the only one time it happened was Meg’s Good News back in 2020, and it literally cleared 100K even.

Between 2019 and now, there hasn’t been a single other female rap album to clear 100K besides Pink Friday 2, but Nicki is an established legend at this point

Doja Cat “Planet Her” album also did

Doja Cat “Planet Her” album also did

Wouldn’t really consider that a rap album at all, that’s a pop project

Interestingly enough, the album she did drop last year that was a rap album, didn’t manage to clear 100K first week

  • Latto's hype Does match up with her numbers

streaming numbers that is along with engagement

in 2024, album sales truly are a small piece of the pie when it comes to popping artists.

This is not a female rapper issue

    It's a music industry issue.

Who actually is selling that are not legacy acts?

IMO album sales determine next to nothing

    1. They don’t determine next to nothing, they actually determine a lot for an artist, especially ones signed to major labels

    2. There are a few newer male rappers who have managed to clear 100K since 2019, compared to the literally one female rapper who’s done it one singular time in that same timeframe

They do not determine a lot for an artist in 2024. It's simply a piece of the whole pie for major label acts.

Out of all of the new rappers who've debuted in 2019, 2020, the fact that very few of them have cleared 100K speaks to the point

Every year less and less rappers sell well commercially, and that's to be expected. Labels as a result are for sure starting to value 1st week sales less and less, and that's factually true.

    Not more than streaming

People's listening habits when it comes to albums do not include actually buying the album

What tells you who listens to you on the daily is your a***ytics.

In an era where no one really post streaming era moves crazy units, this is a great indicator that people actually are listening to Latto for instance, despite mediocre 1st week numbers

Her entire fanbase is filled with young people who stream music. How would sales indicate much about who's listening to her on the daily?
