Emotion is stronger than logic more often than not. If someone gets attached, they want ownership of that person whether that ownership is labeled as marriage, relationship etc. "you belong to me" or "you're my girl"
I think emotions like jealousy and our need to claim something as ours (so we dont get called a simp for example) will prevent polyamory from every becoming mainstream
sure, there are exceptions and some people thrive when they have multiple partners, but the general public wouldnt be able to handle it. There'd be a lot more love crimes thats for sure
