I mean it's there but it's a lot less in your face than Blue Velvet
If you think Lynch was h**** while making this film then try watching a film by Gaspar Noé and get back to me
You think a Gasper Noe film is h****? Try watching Ema (2019) or Love Exposure and get back to me

Damn, you might be right actually just remembered a few scenes from that

The POV cumshot scene still haunts me to this day. Why did Gaspar ever think this had to be a f***ing 3D release in cinemas. I feel sorry for those audiences
film is hilarious because i have no idea what's happening can someone give me a ELI5: rundown of what it's all about?
Why are niggas arguing about which film/director is hornier than the other? They are all h****
My appreciation for this film went up a lot on the second watch- also, I watched Clouds of Sils Maria shortly after and that one felt very inspired by this. There’s this driving scene that occurs midway through and seems to reference the fugue state/psychic split theme that characterizes Lost Highway as a whole
Love (2015) by Gaspar Noé, legit one of my favorite filmmakers of all time but despite loving all of his films including this one i wouldn't necessarily recommend his films to anyone i don't really know. You ever seen any of his work?
Thanks, i figured i would just watch everything Twin Peaks, meaning the first 2 seasons, then FWWM and then The Return. But i'm not much of a TV series guy, and i've heard people say season 2 gets pretty bad at points. Anything i can skip since its 22 episodes i believe? Or should i just sit those out anyway
you’ll definitely notice the part where it gets “bad” but the main problem is that they introduce some plot threads that are just boring and disconnected from everything else. at a certain point i just started skipping every scene with james or nadine in them and i enjoyed the season a lot more. not as good as the others but not bad. a lot of it is very important stuff though, so definitely don’t skip any episodes
the return (season 3) is probably more of what you’re expecting since you’re familiar with his filmography. no matter how you feel about any of the stuff before it it’s all worth it for this season which is basically an 18 hour lynch movie

I already did on another page kinda
SPOILER ALEEEEEEEEEEEEERT
So the guy you see in the first half murdered his own wife because she was unfaithful to him. Then we see a cut to an interrogation room, so the first part of the film is basically him telling the detectives how he experienced it happening (with them getting the random video tapes etc)
We then see him transform inside his prison cell. This is the guy who we follow for the rest of the film. It's the same person, just another identity of him. Our main character is schizophrenic. Lynch basically asks with this film: ''how would someone go on living life dealing with the fact he murdered someone?''
In the life of his new identity he is able to get a lot of women and please them sexually (something he couldn't do with his wife, hence why she cheated on him)
The mystery man that appears is his subconscious who is constantly trying to tell him the truth about what happened. So basically the same thing as with the videotapes
Once the cracks begin to show and he realizes the truth he gets transformed to his real self again at the end (when the new interpretation of his wife during his fantasy says ''you can never have me'')
There's a lot more to it but i suggest reading up on it because they do a better job at it than i can probably
Bro, i seriously doubt doing acid during ETV is a good idea. Sure the neon city at night looks nice. The visuals are very cool and floaty. But it's really a depressing film i couldn't picture myself wanting to do psychedelics while watching it. High probability that i'd get a heart attack at the scene where he gets busted with d****
Patricia Arquette in this
on god
which one you prefer i'm normally not thirsting like that over blondes but when she rocked the blonde hair in the 2nd half whewww

Blonde towards the second half of the movie had me in the edge of my seat
This is def the point in his career where he wasn't f***ing around anymore. I think I personally like all the films after that a bit more but this is a masterpiece for sure, masterful filmmaking.
Goat soundtrack as well
For some reason i don't love Blue Velvet nearly as much as most other people. Still a really good film but i enjoy most of his other films more, personally.
It's one of the few were the film gets less interesting for me when i start to dig deeper for answers. Same thing with Enemy by Villeneuve. It's a great film as well, but once you get to the bottom of what everything means it just leaves you feeling ''aight thats cool i guess'' whereas with Mulholland Drive for example it's just more layered imo and it lingers in my mind much longer
Revisit Blue Velvet at a later point, it left a strong impression on me first watch but I wasn't sure how much I like it, only got better with rewatches tho. Just one of the great neo-noirs period with such a fantastic cast. It's more about the atmosphere not about "layers" that much. You'll see that with Twin Peaks too
Mulholland is his best film but Twin Peaks is his magnum opus imo (even though it's problematic to claim him as the auteur behind the first two seasons I still tend to do it)

Don't skip anything. After S02E09 it's noticeable they didn't have as much direction anymore (also because Lynch sort of retreated from the production) and it's a bit of a dip in quality, but honestly I always considered it a welcome off time to spend with all the many great characters, and there's just some nice character development during that time.
S2 is def overhated, overall most of my fav things of the original series happen in S2
One thing tho btw because the plot sort of deviates from Laura after the 9th episode of S2 I always recommend friends to watch FWWM immediately after that because it has a stronger impact then. There's one line in the film which could qualify as spoiler for later in the season but you probably wouldn't even know which one

Yeah i figured. Def gonna peep everything especially cause it's my first watch and my gf is in love with these characters as well. Also only seen the first episode of season 2 but they already cranked up the weirdness factor compared to season 1 so i'm in afffff
loved the ''warm milk'' scene, it was hilarious and bizarre at the same time. Just how i like my Lynch

S02E01 is arguably the best episode of the original series tbh so many goat scenes. There's def gon be more weirdness in the season overall. After it goes a bit more tame Lynch comes back in for the finale and really f***s s*** up. And then S3 of course just goes all out in several wild ways at once, Showtime chef wasn't lying when he hyped it up as the "pure heroin version of David Lynch".

Yeah i've heard people say Twin Peaks The Return might be Lynch magnum opus and that it's his most experimental next to Inland Empire (which i loved by the way)
Can't wait to see what The Return has in store for me, hopefully my girl wants to peep that season too because she's loving it so far but i'm scared for when it's gonna get abstract

The Return can turn quite wild but it's not nearly as abstract as Inland Empire tbh (which in comparison would have to be the speedball version of Lynch). I still think it's pretty approachable overall. It's Lynch and Frost's go at an epic narrative
It's more the way the story is told which tests you as a (first-time) viewer. But you'll see. Enjoy!
