Crazy to think what direction musically he would be going in now. Or the amount music he would have created during the covid lockdown. So many what ifs.

I don’t think a week goes by where I don’t get sad as hell about this. Hope he’s still creating magic wherever he is right now

No bullshit genuinely for me the only artist that actually upset me that he had passed

    100% agree

  • listening to Balloonerism for the first time today and it's a beautiful album. Reminds me a bit of Faces but a little more subtle. Mac's writing style is so unique man, and paired with the production it just meshes so well. Even down to the drum sounds, you can tell they didn't have to change much of anything to put this out. We lost a great one with him.

  • Poolboy Q

    Is Faces considered his opus?

Also I think I’ve actually listened to WMWTSO once

maybe for the real Rap portion of his fanbase, be he was barring tf out

I think it's my second most Listened to of all his projects. My pick for his "greatest work" is probably Swimming or Divine Feminine. All his albums / tapes from Macadelic and onward are great though if you ask me

WM -> Faces -> GOOD AM was his peak IMO. Some say his work after that era was his best and I can’t really argue with it

Mac has a really really good discography tbh. Everything from Macadelic afterwards is fire.

His only real miss was Blue Slide Park and even that wasn’t Revival/The Big Day bad, it just paled in comparison to the rest of his work.

Operation Love was at one point considered for this project but seems to have not made the cut for the same reason He Finally Sleeps didn't - It being part of a different project. This project being called space and time (speculated to be an EP)

Ayooooooo nice hoping he expands more but even if he doesn't regardless that post was very insightful

  • BMZ

Cool to hear the explanation of why those two songs from the leak were cut from the official release. Very detailed. Thought it was likely finally he sleeps was part of a different project.

I put it on after Excelsior tried fitting Bobs Dementia but idk if it really fits as much as HFS

  • MrMudManMood

Listen to Faces after you listen to this, try to find a download/upload (I know there's one on SoundCloud and YT) of the OG mixtape

Streaming version is really good just couldn't include the movie samples and some other small stuff

I feel this anybody who hears Faces on streaming n digs it n wants to go deeper should peep the OG just to get the full experience some say it doesn't matter (no pun intended) but for Faces imo it does

  • LukeToThe

Mac’s whole discog gives me that feeling. How did we go from BSP to Watching Movies in less than 24 months. Then Faces/Balloonerism a year later? GO:OD AM a year after that? Then TDF, Swimming and Circles sessions across the next two years.
What a beautifully brief career and life of growth, experimentation and pure talent.

The progression in such short spurts will always leave me in awe

  • BMZ

His quarantine output would've been special
