first half = one of the greatest movies in the MCU
second half = boring asf and borderline ruins the whole experience
6/10 tbh, y’all say marvel is back every other movie it seems
Forget the other.
The fanbase is looney tunes
rewatched 2005 movie after this and they had more chemistry and lowkey it was just a more fun movie to watch in general.
Hate has been really forced imo with no one communicating what they didn’t like. It’s no masterpiece but it’s a solid sci-fi movie. People complaining about not enough action I think are unfamiliar with Fantastic 4 in general. Even the 2000s movie’s barely had any action in them
As for superhero flicks, it’s about on par with Superman and Thunderbolts above both

I think shakman probably had a solid original vision for this movie but it was absolutely butchered in post, so sloppy and poorly paced. we didn’t get enough time to let the 4 gel, and they somehow made a movie with galactus seem completely inconsequential. That third act was straight doodoo

Fair criticisms. I agree with the pacing issues it kinda felt like a documentary in that aspect but it wasn’t bad enough to ruin the movie for me
The main plot revolving around the birth of Reed and Sue’s first child meant most of the focus had to be on them. Remember this is year 4 of them being a team so they’ve already gelled. That’s the downside of skipping the origin, we don’t get to see that form on screen. I had similar issues with Superman and his relationships to Lois and Lex
I disagree with it feeling inconsequential. The second half plays out like a disaster movie and I felt it. I think people convinced themselves early on that Galactus was gonna win and are disappointed that it’s not how it played out. If this was a standalone F4 franchise it’d be obvious they’d have to win and I’m glad they treated it like a standalone instead of having them lose just to set up Avengers. I’d prefer they remained in their own universe after the Avengers movies tbh
I also liked the 3rd act. I didn’t think we’d ever get to see a live action Galactus stomping around on earth and they somehow pulled it off. In the comics, Galactus just comes, they talk, and he agrees to leave in exchange for some weapon Johnny retrieved from space. There wasn’t a fight at all. I do think that the post Galactus battle was rushed. I would’ve liked to see where their heads were at after the experience
Anyway, not trying to convince you to change your mind. Just been wanting to actually discuss the movie in depth as a long time F4 fan
