Facts. I didnt know people were calling them out though. Thats whats up, theres literally no reason for TM to cost anything. its a shame people try to gatekeep something as pure and natural as meditation.
But yea u right, everyone from the beatles to david lynch all found it a great help in their lives. i wonder if they knew that they didnt have to pay for any of those teachings but at the end of the day, they had the funds and it helped them in a public way. we wouldnt have the white album without meditation and id say David Lynch is only becoming a better artist partly because he meditates.
From what I’ve heard about that “era” when TM was huge, and it seemed similar to how the self care trend is today. Things that were always available but repackaged and processed to sell as a trend. So at that time, I’m not sure, but after you’ve welcomed such a dedicated practice of a certain style into your life, I’m sure it would be hard to feel the same about anything else.
And yup exactly. Get it how you live. I’ll never be mad at it. The more people into it the better.

Very bittersweet in terms of meditation practices
TM was a commodified version of meditation and turned into a trend but since its pretty much impossible to f*** up the essence of meditation, it worked regardless.
while on the other hand you could sell absolute toxic BS in a self help book which will cause more harm than good to an individual in the long run. Wild how that works.
most important habit aside from fulfilling basic needs.
thanks for making this thread op.

No problem and thanks for joining.
Its a life changing habit. I only realized it in hindsight but man its crazy how its barely in schools. 98 percent of people should practice meditation
Calm app is great.

School doesn’t teach us how to be well-functioning human beings at all.

It is. But I mean, we humans have been doing that with life essentials for how long?
Very sad but it’s the world we live in

yeah i started off with that kind of stuff and moved on to removing technology from the equation entirely.
as difficult as it is to describe, theres a loss of intimacy with reality when apps and videos get involved.

i completely get what your saying, technology is ultimately unnecessary when you start getting in the routine of meditation. all a person needs is the breath. its straight sad how we try to sell something so simple and essential
Meditation usually just stresses me the hell out, I've done it everyday for 2 years though but idk why lmao
It’s the mantras and the specific school of teachers, they emphasize how important it is to be taught by someone from a certain lineage
lmfaoooooo yea bro. i think lynch is so into it because its the first form of meditation he tried and it worked perfectly for him
he wouldve had the same feeling about mindfulness meditation if that came across his path first

how do u feel when you meditate? besides stressed
for sure, imo its all the same in essence: focusing your attention on something intrinsic and internal, whether it be a mantra, a person, or your breath.
No doubt, I only looked so deep into TM at one point because I was afraid I was missing something and that I was doing it all wrong. Shame that something so personal to me almost shattered cause of a sales pitch.
But that’s intense lol, have those visuals resonated with you in any way when you practiced?
