Don't think the movie would work well if he was a chad either. I think for the average film goer who didn't read the comics, Cera's dweebiness makes sense in a movie about a character who's fighting Ramona's 7 evil exes and constantly comparing himself to them throughout.

Movie fans will disagree ITT but I think anyone who read the books first would say so.

Part of why the film didn't hit at first was cause general audiences thought it was weird and comic fans tuned out when Cera was cast.

It’s not a bad movie at all. I just find it so boring. And I’m shocked cus like I said, Cera is in my favorite movie of all time (Superbad)

But I just can’t get into the movie. I just find it very “ehhhhh”
