    Ayyyeeee.

So I made a Discord server. Eventually want to throw all the information from this thread in there. I’ve been posting a lot of opportunities for artists and producers in the #opportunities channel though. Including some info on how you could get your song in the next 2K game 👀.

hey, this is kind of a shot in the dark, but i used to drop music under different alter egos and was doing fairly well, until compromising in my relationship led me to leave social media alltogether.

i really dislike it now and im a fairly paranoid individual so im keen on keeping my privacy at all times, my question is. is there a good way to market my music without necessarily going on instagram?

  • Nov 27, 2021

Didn’t know this thread existed I will be back soon

Hmm… if you don’t want to directly interact w/ the platform you could just run ads, using the Facebook ad manager.

Honestly social media is the way to go tbh, that’s where a lot of listeners naturally are, and they are discovering new s*** through there

If you want to do it more organically / save money, you’re definitely gonna have to network. Try joining a lot of discord servers and send your stuff out thru there. Some of my favorites:

    Kenny Beats server
    Johan Lenox server
    Kayvan’s House
    Pigeons & Planes
    Ramzoid Dungeon

IRL, go to as many music events as you can and just talk to people. Don’t even open w/ the fact that you make music, just get to know people and find out about what they are into. Building relationships

about to promote a song for the first time, anyone have any specific tips for me? I'm just using instagram right now. im trying to use tiktok but not sure im doing it right.i tried submithub but got rejected on all 6 admissions. i heard spotify editorial submissions dont work well for first songs. im thinking the best way is too just make a music video and submit to elevator for them to upload, but not sure if thats worth $500.

Is the song out yet? You should submit to 30-50 Spotify playlisters on Submithub prior to the release & spend the majority of your ad budget in the first 4 days driving people through your landing page onto Spotify.

I would also stalk the Spotify "Discovered On" section of artists in your genre to identify playlists outside of Submithub for placements.

Spotify values initial engagement, and will be more likely to place the song on algorithmically generated playlists when you take the aforementioned steps. You will also develop audience data on your Pixels and DSP profiles, which will benefit future ad campaigns & releases.

no the song releases on the 14th, is it really worth submitting to that many playlists on submit hub? I already felt pretty defeated with 6 rejections can't imagine what 50 would feel like. looking for playlist on the discovered on section seems like a good idea, I'll try that. what is the best way to utilize an ad budget? I'm willing to spend a good amount if I'm likely to get results. I heard Facebook and instagram ads don't work well, or will attract bots. also if I do decide on an instagram ad wouldn't I have to have some kind of video content to promote? I really don't have anything to go with the song other than the cover art. not sure what pixels and dsp profiles are but thanks for the reply, this sxn seems pretty dead

ive found that on ig just dont post the cover art, pictures of your self gain more views then just cover lol, so some pictures and then the cover in one post

for advertising, paying meme niggas seems to be the wave rather then fb and ig advertising

Imo it's worth submitting to that many playlists, as long as you aren't receiving criticism about the quality of the production / mix. I've seen between 10-30% approval rates submitting "professional" sounding music, and the playlists undoubtedly help the algorithm. I do get that it's annoying waking up to 10 "Declined for sharing" emails.

For Facebook ADs I learned a lot watching channels like this youtube.com/c/AndrewSouthworth/videos, and reading articles . From my understanding bots come from running ads optimized for "link clicks", where they are taken directly from the ad to the song. Facebook wants your ad to get "clicks" at a reasonable cost, and will show it to bot profiles who click on every link they see.

-To avoid that you need to run ads based on a "conversion" event where the AD viewer first clicks onto your song landing page (with links to all the streaming platforms), and then clicks on the landing page to go to their preferred platform (landing page example: ngeeyl.ffm.to/offwhite) Research will help you set this up, it's a pretty ass process but will help a ton & a lot of the logic applies to running ads on other platforms.

@Keyblade_King is on point that video / interactive content generates more engagement that a picture of the cover art, at minimum you should animate the cover art.

Also paying meme pages / news pages is a good strategy for building a Tier 1 audience (Tier 1: Countries with fast internet access that pay the most per stream, and thus are the most expensive to advertise to directly), just make sure the page is getting legit engagement and look at what other artists they promote. I would look at pages on all platforms, not just IG.

    SubmitHub pro tip:

When you use their "Hot or Not" feature and someone tunes into a song, it won't count as a stream on Spotify. However, if you use SoundCloud as your primary streaming source, it will! Good method to get some free streams using their platform.

does it count as a view if you use youtube?

    what music visualizers y'all use??

I'm prepping an ad campaign for a sample pack I'm releasing and I want to nail it. I've been working on branding and compiling good keywords but wanted to see if I could get any sauce from y'all. @nomadfox

I’ve had success finding music themed YouTube pages to share our music. This method caused one of our songs that had around 3k plays to get around 50k plays between the major platforms. Consistently leads to more plays though that’s our biggest success story so far. Building a relationship with YouTube pages and Twitter pages that share music helps.

Also dailyplaylists.com is a free submission site, you get 25 free submissions every 5 days and I’ve had some success on there

Some of them take a while to respond (it helps to sort by most recently active) and you will get a lot of declines. I aim for playlists that have a good amount of followers but not too much (over 1,000, under 10,000), and not too many songs (less than 200).

My best ratio was 2 approval for every 10 declines. My most played song has 30 approved - 300 declined. So I wouldn’t be too stressed on getting declined.

Even with all the playlists I’ve gotten on, I’ve gotten about 3500 plays directly from those playlists. So it’s not like a huge hack or anything, but it helps.
