I use Reddit a lot but strictly for information for my interests as far as the interaction goes it’s bottom barrel ngl. Got in an argument with dude one time and he tried to pull my profile s*** and roasted me for being subscribed to Fortnite sub so when I looked through his he was commenting on some sub of niggas beating their d*** to pics on their phone. I literally was in awe this dude tried to call ME weird

Then will pull the “What’s wrong with being gay?” card

    white fragility strikes again!!

you'll be fine in rome, but them niggas are pretty racist. i went there for a school trip a few years ago, and an old italian lady called me and my main man "africa" or the n word or something when we were walking down the street 💀 a lot of scowls and ugly looks throughout the trip as well, not as much in rome but definitely in naples and sorrento

That's just typical of Reddit because majority of users on there are white and don't understand things from Black people's perspective when traveling out of the country, especially to places in Europe.

I'd recommend finding some communities online for Black travellers. The people you speak to will likely understand what you're interested in knowing and why.

As great as Reddit is for finding information, the communities of certain subs are filled with the exact kinda corny white nerds you would probably hate interacting with in real life.

“Don’t make yourself a victim no matter where you are. You’re fine.” is a funny ass response.

It was probably the first thing admittingly, but I don't know I can't but shake this feeling that this wasn't the main incentive here.

It really just comes off like they're mad I mentioned race at all. Like the equivalent of the Starfield Pronouns guy.

Especially that Phenotype comment, gave me "STOP TRYING TO CURRENT DAY ME" vibes.

just settle with the fact there’s still some white people who think recognizing the unique struggle/experience a black person goes through feels like it’s invalidates the their own general struggles in life. Even with you just adding in that detail connects to that. I’ve already heard this said before and it’s just the old “i have it worse/just as bad as you!” mentality overall.

Yeah there's this weird crowd of white people that want everyone to forcefully act like racism isn't a thing so they hate anytime race is even pointed out. Reddit is full of those kinds

They’re also the same ppl to act like men are oppressed

  • i swear i just opened the reddit app for the first time in a while and I just see racist and stupid comments. Great for info but user base is basura.

Me and my girl are going to Rome, right? (long story, I don't want to go into it)

Apparently there have been constant protest and strikes going on as a result the Israeli/Palestine thing, and also something about local union mistreatment and low wages.

Its left me and girlfriend worried that it might not be the best time to be going over there, but the money has already been spent and our flight is next Monday.

I tried doing my own independent research, and couldn't come up with much. So I ended up going on several subreddits looking for some general advice (yeah yeah, I know).

For the sake of, I don't know, being thorough I guess? I mentioned being a "Black American Couple" in the thread title, and as a result all the responses have been very...interesting?

A majority of the comments I get are just people being weirdly defensive over the fact that I felt the need to mention I was black.

My notifications are full of comments like:

"Don’t make yourself a victim no matter where you are. You’re fine."

"Can I ask why you mentioned you were Black?"

"why would being black have anything to do with the situation in Israel right now..."

"I don't understand the specification of your phenotype..."

    Am I reaching here?

ur first mistake was using reddit

also its probably not that deep i feel like the odds of u getting attacked by italian labor unions is pretty low

reddit users do not see minorities as real people (except their libertarian asian girlfriends)
