Atheism is just being comfortable with the fact that you have no real idea just like everyone else.

You can do that while believing in a god too.

God is an explanation though so really you can't.
my view as an athiest: i dont care
as a Muslim I respect all religions and viewpoints I can’t stand atheists who think religious people are stupid for believing in whatever it is that they believe. I feel that it’s irrational to not believe in something that from there viewpoint can’t be proven so why completely write it off? And when saying this I’m not talking about people who simply don’t believe I’m talking about people so confident in their disbelief
I’m agnostic (kinda atheist) and I get what you’re saying, but I feel like that’s the case for literally any belief, religious or not. You will always have outspoken people who think they are right, their belief is the right and only belief, and anyone who thinks otherwise is “stupid.”

Well look at there. I guess you're right. Kinda redundant imo but it's a thing.
When i was 10 on hot summer nights i would think about what happens after death and i deadass just fall into an abyss of uncertainty
Now i just don't care
I hate atheists for putting us in a box, let's make a thread putting atheists in a box.
Imagine being an atheist when KanYe bout to drop Gods Country aka AOTY
Saying slavery is a choice and simultaneously riding for the religion the slave masters banged into your head kinda cringeworthy ngl
On the flip side. I used to be a very devout Christian and I wonder if having no form of spirituality is hurting my mental health.
its 2020 bro

you can have spirituality without religion

I don't believe in the supernatural though, is that not a prerequisite?

idfk lmao.
mindfulness and awareness of your body (which as far as I know is common practice is spiritual circles) is a good start for maintaining good mental health imo. And doesnt require any belief in mystic or supernatural stuff

I feel what you're telling me, but this is the internet. Everyone has meditation in their self help to do list. I don't think taking the time to quiet your mind and be present is really spiritual as much as it is just exercise.

im interested in why you would think that a lack of spiritualism might harm your mental health?
I respect all views but almost every atheist i've known comes across as a know it all and condescending person that thinks they're smarter/better than someone because they don't believe in a god
You could have swapped the word atheists with Christians and put “because they believe in god” and this sentence would work perfect still .
I think the Atheist that do these kinda things are probably just reflecting what they had to endure . It’s wrong either way but it makes sense

I used to be really into Christianity and I cant remember exactly how I felt back then, but I do know I felt like I was doing the "right" thing. I felt like I had someone to turn to when I prayed. Now I believe in nothing.
I can't pray anymore cause it doesn't feel like it goes anywhere. It's lonely almost, but at the same time I'm pretty sure I was just talking to myself anyway.
To sum it up, real or not it might be good to believe in something so you don't feel so alone.
