you know reading it back i realize now i was reading his statements too much. i think it was because he was posting ones he disagreed with and i just took it as discounting people’s opinions because of that. with your example i realized that’s all he meant by all of his posts. i just kinda turned the discussion into something else. sorry op 🙁

Mumble rap doesn't exist it's an arbitrary label created by outsiders of hip-hop. It's one thing to not like an artists output but when it became an issue where these white bloggers and corporate publications started insulting black art on a basis of intelligence they lost me. Uzi, Carti and Yachty are all lyrical rappers but what made niggas like Hov, Pac and Kendrick special is they went above and beyond. That can't be expected as the only standard though. Most of these young dudes can flow on old school beats anyway see Trippie Redd, XXXTentacion and Lucki.

I was never happy to listen a full Drake project until IYRT, and I haven't since either.

I’ve said it 10,000 times and it’s always true. And you stay seeing more and more examples lol.
The niggas that don’t actually like Drake always use IYRTITL as the benchmark lol.

Makes it very easy to know who’s opinion to take seriously, it’s like reading a Fantano review.

but as someone who raps

i feel like that comes
from the competitive spirit

i really only feel this way about rap because it's my life and it's all i've thought about since i was a kid

the last jedi legitimately makes my blood boil to this day

and on the subject of narratives, i feel like that's actually around the time i started noticing how powerful they truly are

the idea that people don't like that movie because they wanted a typical star wars movie is so infuriating to me

having now seen The Mandalorian

i feel that there is no excuse for what happened with the sequel trilogy as a whole but especially with the last jedi

subverting expectations for
the sake of it is a sin if you
break the rest of the story

why rian johnson decided it was time to go left in the middle of the last trilogy is mind boggling to me

and if he wanted to pull from s*** like KOTOR 2 why would he stay so surface level with it?

why make rey nobody after they clearly set her up to be somebody

why make luke a hermit when his literal archetype is the most hopeful hero

i just don't get it

they had a layup and blew it
