Aftermathbws_Jay electronica himself has refuted claims that he ghostwrote for nas. So I guess it’s a choice of which of the stories is a lie
and the fact that these “reference tracks” have never leaked indicates that what he said is a better bet than word of mouth from these “sources”Btw I don’t doubt he had some input but I don’t believe the reference tracks exist

Like another poster in one of those Drake reference tracks said, it's fine if it's singing but rap is a genre where vocal ability doesn't matter much. It's the genre where lyrics matter the most, it's the most competitive genre. I can't believe someone claiming "I'm the best" if they're getting help to the extent some of these rappers areI'm not saying it's cheating or whatever if they get ideas from someone else. I don't expect rappers to be in complete isolation and close themselves off to the ideas others have. Music is collaborative and creating it almost always requires multiple people. But to take entire verses that someone else wrote and switching it up a little? That's a lil weak

rapping is not just lyrics and i think u are undermining the vocal performance from rappers — Kendrick, Carti or anyone in between wouldn’t be half as big without their vocals inflection
i’d argue rap would be dead by now if it’s foundation lied solely on lyrics, from what i know rap started as random freestyles in block parties, they were closer to hype men than lyrical miracle

Because people don’t/didn’t want to change how they view Drake the consensus changed to this in 2015 but before 2015 you didnt hear of non Dre JD Ye type dudes just having writers.
Also writing a hook or even helping someone finish a line is nowhere near the same thing as reference tracks and even those are nowhere near the same as having whole verses and segments of verses written for you lol

My point is that one is a lie which discredits him anyway. Plus I believe he’s credited on queens get this money so even if he had a hand in writing the song that doesn’t make him a ghostwriter by definition
