Only because they are doing it for longer stretches of time over a regular season...again a time period of basketball that doesn’t really matter in terms of winning lol
you’re helping make my argument, small sample size also diminishes the weight of a finals mvp. don’t get me wrong it’s a great accolade and most players would take it over an mvp bc it means they won the chip... but mvp is a better indicator of how great of a ball player you are.
You're confusing "chronic" injuries with being injury prone.... Cp3 has been injury prone throughout most of his career.... He hasn't had a lot of chronic injuries though.
in that case “injury prone” seems like made up bullshit if it can’t be explained
Paul Pierce was certainly one of the better players in the league in the early 2000s
not an mvp or close to it
Its harder to earn NBA MVP... Finals MVP all you have to do is string a good performance together in 4-7 games ala Iguodala in 2015, Kawhi in 2014, Tony Parker in 2007, Billups in 2004, Cedric Maxwell, I can go on and on.... Role players have won it and lower level stars... Only superstars have won MVP... And you'll never have someone at the level of 2014 Kawhi or 2015 Iguodala win an MVP.
The actual MVP is always gonna be the most prestigious award in the NBA and it's not even close.
A regular season MVP is more indicative of league standing. Everyone who wins the award is a superstar.
A finals MVP is much more dependent on favorable circumstances not necessarily related to how good a player is relative to peers.
Harden led teams have consistently won more games year after year than Wade led teams.... It's not close... Harden also has the statistical edge in regular season AND playoffs...
One ship and it's not even a conversation.
I see where you’re coming from and agree that Harden has been one of the best basketball players we’ve ever seen over consistent stretches of time. However to me, if you can’t get your team over the hump when it matters most that will always stain your legacy.
It’s certainly not always Hardens fault that his teams have fallen short but he has shrunken in the big moments on more than one occasion and we can’t just forget that aspect
One was an all around player who carried a team to a chip, one is a scorer who stands in a corner when he doesnt have the ball and couldnt win on ateam with multiple hall of famers....
in that case “injury prone” seems like made up bullshit if it can’t be explained
It can be explained and it was... Players who are often injured and miss a lot of games throughout their careers due to injury are injury prone.

A small sample size sure but again it’s when the moments matter most lol
I see exactly where you’re coming from and obviously regular season MVP awards are huge, but at the end of the day if u ain’t winning it all by leading your team than it’s going to affect your legacy or place in history
One was an all around player who carried a team to a chip, one is a scorer who stands in a corner when he doesnt have the ball and couldnt win on ateam with multiple hall of famers....
Terrible take
not an mvp or close to it
Only because the team sucked until Ray & KG came over. You don’t win regular season MVPs unless your team is a top seed
It can be explained and it was... Players who are often injured and miss a lot of games throughout their careers due to injury are injury prone.
that’s not an explanation.. an explanation would explain why a player is “injury prone” like a chronic problem area. otherwise how are you supposed to distinguish bad luck from “injury prone?” injuries are just a matter of luck most of the time
Harden is the better scorer, the better playmaker, the better shooter and the better rebounder
Wade has one thing over him and thats carrying his team to the chip as a 3rd year player. Which is why I think most people bump him ahead of harden. For now
Also defense. I forgot that one for wade too
Only because the team sucked until Ray & KG came over. You don’t win regular season MVPs unless your team is a top seed
that’s not the only reason why bruh, he was never a top 5-10 player. that’s the main reason why. don’t forget in 2002 he led the celtics to the 3 seed, just 2-3 games off from the 1 seed.
it takes winning you’re right, but it also takes being a top 5 ish player.

So if he led the Celtics to a #3 seed in 2002, you don’t think that makes him a top 10 player in the league at that time?

agreed, I’m not saying that regular season mvp puts harden ahead of wade. I just think harden is better because I think he’s capable of doing more for his team on the court. if you can’t put him ahead of wade due to the lack of rings that’s fine, it’s probably a matter of time though. but way too many clowns itt acting like it’s blasphemy, those the ones who really do not know basketball. ring counting is always flawed logic.

you know what you’re right, he probably was a top 10 player in the nba that year taking his production and team success into account. but even still, the margin between him and tim duncan who won mvp was still wide.

I agree he's definitely had some bad playoff games that get hyper magnified, but he's had FAR more great playoff games than bad ones.... I'll make these two statements and I want you to try and prove it wrong... Or maybe you'll agree.
We can count current players and even include Wade in this.
Every single "other" star in the NBA choked or failed massively in the offs until they got better talent in the form of multiple stars or a SUPERSTAR TEAMUP.
Prior to this year... Harden more often than any other star in the league has had to carry a team riddled with injuries to his 2nd best player and role players against opponents with more relative talent.
to be clear I do consider wade to be an mvp caliber player. think his best season are better than guys who have actually won, like d rose and steve nash.
One was an all around player who carried a team to a chip, one is a scorer who stands in a corner when he doesnt have the ball and couldnt win on ateam with multiple hall of famers....
This take is one of someone who doesn't understand ball... Low ball IQ brain on memes

lotta “first take” auditions itt

Agreed. It’s certainly not as simple as counting rings and saying that guy is the best. You have to take into account who led the team and who actually performed at that elite level when the winning was occurring.
It takes critical thinking and a***ysis and we obviously don’t just say Robert Horry > Michael Jordan and call it a day lol
that’s not an explanation.. an explanation would explain why a player is “injury prone” like a chronic problem area. otherwise how are you supposed to distinguish bad luck from “injury prone?” injuries are just a matter of luck most of the time
Wrong.... we simply have to explain what "injury prone" means and why that applies to said player.
We don't have to determine why the injuries happen.

Okay so i think it’s fair to say we can revisit this conversation in June and see where we stand
Wrong.... we simply have to explain what "injury prone" means and why that applies to said player.
We don't have to determine why the injuries happen.
so are you denying that injuries are largely luck?

True but we talking Tim Duncan who we all know is one of the greatest big men ever who also happens to have 5 championship rings & 2 Finals MVPs ;)
