Also DYING at the mfs talking about “you didn’t watch it so why are you commenting” like SON... if any of the descriptions I’ve read about this movie are accurate, this movie has no business being released let alone being watched by myself to confirm what I already know.

Niggas lowkey promoting this movie like tf you saying “you haven’t watched it” how do you feel comfortable watching this film?

They think they’re being intellectuals by taking that position. Belittling everyone who is outraged by this is all part of the normalization process

  • Sep 11, 2020

how did people let them even direct this film or let the actresses do these dances in a room full of adults watching

I hate to break it to you but you’re not an loser if you watch Joaquin Phoenix acting or a racist for watching people pretending to be racist.... but you’re most likely a pedo if you’re watching CP

Not seen the film and dont really have any intention to but this is a really stupid take.

There’s all manner of physical violence and sexual violence in loads of popular films. No one would say you’re definitely a serial killer for watching Saw, no one would say you’re definitely a rapist for watching Irreversible.

There’s no real physical or sexual violence in any popular films, it’s all fiction and acting. It’s not really a difficult distinction to make for anyone with half a brain

but your concern seems to be that pedophiles will be titilated by this film - yes all sexual violence in movies is acted but do you not think a real life rapist could be titilated by a graphic rape scene?

In any case regardless of your opinion on the content (which imo you’re absolutely justified in finding offensive), if the same film was made with an 18yo cast it wouldn’t be considered p***ographic in any way, so labelling this child p***ography is just silly

My primary concern is mostly that real children are being abused. The fact that a global streaming service are providing content for pedophiles and normalizing this kind of thing is also bothering me.

If the same film was made with 18 year olds then it would definitely be considered p***ographic or at least erotic. Did you miss the whole WAP outrage or something?

basically you’ve managed to bypass the racy content and your main focus is to give a psycho a***ysis of characters actions. Ehh i get it, but at what cost is it to portray a story when the actors themselves are probably not even mentally developed enough to understand what the writers are trying to convey to the viewer ?
Its not like little girls will watch it and have second thoughts, its really up to the adults to not have children performing exotic dances for sport. The people who organize these things dont care. Really it serves little purpose other than to hide pedophilia in plain sight

I did not bypass the racy content. I literally spent a paragraph on it and even detailed my thoughts on how it made me feel. You're being extremely disingenuous. My focus in the review reflects the focus of the movie...and that is the main character's journey and how she navigates it.

Your concern about child welfare is noted. And it is ultimately up to the parents to OK this and the studio to provide a safe environment for the children. Somebody in this thread mentioned the cultural differences between France and the United States, which shouldn't be ignored. In France, s***education is mandatory from middle school and up so conversations around this topic occur at an early age. Also, the director has previous experience working with children and the studio had a child psychologist on set (which can be found in the end credits if you actually watched the movie). I just find it weird people like you make assertions like "people that organize these things don't care" without doing your own research when there is evidence to the contrary. This isn't even about the movie anymore, tbh. I just wish for more people find nuance in discussion and do research before speaking first.

Just seen ur edit. Totally understand the concern i just think the potential impact of the film is being wildly overstated and labelling it as cp, or anyone who watches it as a pedo, is possibly even trivialising real world exploitation and abuse

Are there actually grown men that f*** with 14 year olds over there hope no one actually follows it

Even tho it’s 15 here in Quebec you’d be shunned for being 18 and being open about f***ing a 15 year old

Why? That’s literally 2 high school students

I haven’t seen it but I’m pretty sure they aren’t promoting pedophilia.

But they definitely crossed a line. I was under the impression it was like cheerleading dancing or like hip hop crew/something you would see on one of those dance competition shows.... but based on that clip last page, it’s like straight stripper style dancing.

It's not promoting pedophilia, it's talking about problematic and prominent it is in today's culture.

The issue is that it does so by straight up displaying sexualized minors unable to give formal consent and crossing lines.

It's not about what the film's trying to do if what it does is equally part of the issue.

I still think it's unacceptable. There are somethings you don't make a movie about and explicitly show. There's a difference between two consenting actors depicting something and legitimately getting children to sexualize themselves for a film.
