whoever defended this movie deserves to be shot, read those scenes on the left and tell me that s*** is okay
Woahhhhhhhh. It’s that bad? I thought it was something else. They got 11 year olds showing bare breast? Bruh what?

I don't think they show the bare breast itself in the movie but my understanding is that there's a scene where that happens
I still think it's unacceptable. There are somethings you don't make a movie about and explicitly show. There's a difference between two consenting actors depicting something and legitimately getting children to sexualize themselves for a film.
I agree, i was just saying the thread title is obv a reach. These type of movies intrigue me enough to have an opinion on how they should be executed but this was obv not well.
Is that white girl trans?
I see. Makes a lot more sense. KTT w the usual exaggerated clickbait thread titles
pedoman strikes again
should americans send their daughters in the summertime to europe? like in that bertolucci film stealing beauty
Please don't watch this. Just bombard Netflix with complaints. This needs to be removed. It's nothing "artistic" about sexualizing minors. From what read it's gross and unacceptable.
This is the director by the way.
Yep, and people have to stop pretending that women can't be pedophiles.

So you haven’t seen it?
If not don’t tell people what to do lmao
This is such problematic behavior
At least watch the video I posted if you’re gonna continue to admonish anyone with a diverging opinion on the issue, when you haven’t even watched the movie lol.

im watching it right now , this is a movie showing how tiktok culture , and things like WAP and s*** like that are confusing to younger kids
this movie shouldn't be cancelled, on the contrary, more parents should see it to understand what the "culture" right now is doing to little kids
once again the problem with the movie isnt the message (which is actually partially also problematic with the islamophobia that is clear in the movie, but no one cares about islamophobia)
the problem is them actually using underage girls who can't consent to this s***

I'm not a Muslim but def tired of the way Islam is portrayed in western media, I believe there's a reason why such movie get greenlighted... progressists/artst fartsy people portray Islam as being a medieval tier tyrant religion that oppresses everyone, it's tiring and reductive

exactly, its impossible to name 1 movie that is about a muslim where their parents are not super conservative devils who beat them
and agreed, and IF they really wanted to use underage girls, which i dont know why, they couldve shot this in a way different less child-abusive way.
u dont have to zoom in on underage girls body parts to tell us something is disturbing lol, its honestly terrible filmmaking if u need to show these things so obviously to tell the audience 'look this is supposed to be disturbing'
Just seen ur edit. Totally understand the concern i just think the potential impact of the film is being wildly overstated and labelling it as cp, or anyone who watches it as a pedo, is possibly even trivialising real world exploitation and abuse
Go down the thread. Now go ahead and argue against American law
I strongly disagree. If anything, the people who are adamant about playing this down are the ones who are guilty of trivializing real world exploitation and abuse.

I’d say it’s more of a critique on patriarchy within Islam, than straight up Islamphobia. But nonetheless you raise a very valid point.

you're a moron the writer and director of the movie is a black muslin woman she's writing about her own personal experiences
this is isn't a big political blockbuster , this was an indie film that Netflix picked up because it had great reviews at festivals
yall are ignorant as f*** sometimes, go watch transformers moron and jerk to little girls doing tiktoks while you're saying that this movie is wrong
screenwriters now can't write about their personal experiences because morons are too sensitive

Citing the law and acting like its an open and shut case when there’s no indication this will even go to court, and probably no similar precedent exists really doesnt prove anything.
You can see in this thread alone there’s a lot of debate on both sides, so i don’t think it’s obvious that a jury would come to a common consensus. Looking at the wording of those 6 tests it’s clear both sides would have pretty robust arguments in any theoretical trial.
Seems inevitable it will be pulled from netflix sooner than later but i think it’s incredibly unlikely anyone will be convicted of distributing child p***ography if this goes through the courts

It's still not a good movie imo
Being of the community/culture doesn't mean one is absolved from criticism when presenting art involving said community/culture;that's actually moronic imo
There's a clear narrative that is accepted when it comes to Muslim stories that I have observed living in Europe alongside the Muslim community vs seeing the disproportionate representation of a fraction of that community on tv/movies/politics/debates ; that's what I meant by there's a reason why such narratives get greenlighted...
Edit: those insults you threw in at the end show your level of maturity, this discussion ends here.

No, it's not about sensitivities, it's about people voicing their opinions on a bait movie with bad marketing...
Just because it's "her story" doesn't mean it's bringing something of substance to the movie industry...
Some people have seen this trope over and over....
Wow, Muslims who feel like normalized Islamophobia is pushed in movies are morons now, ok.

mf gonna tell me, a muslim, while hes a white man, that im being too sensitive when the only islam i see in movies is pushing the same islamophobic narrative lets make all movies about white people be about them being kkk members
