The TikTok thing is another level of crazyness. That needs more regulation, but because it's a stigma that it's a kids app no one really think it's anything more then that. Especially since nobody is highlighting that it's some inappropriate things going on within that app.
How much more destructive is it than when we was growing up(assuming your 25+). When I was growing up there was imo way worst songs out than WAP though. Hell I use to do CDs for people when I was in middle school and was first introduced to slob on my knob, Trina, lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Lil Ru Nasty song, Etc. I grew up on mostly R&B and street rap. I knew these songs existed due to my sister being older and listening to it, but she was in high school.
It seems like the director was going for a coming of age story/rebellious pre-teen, but her understanding of it just didn't come across well. She very well meant to add those scenes to make the viewer feel disgusted, but the interview contradicts this. It seems like she wasn't going for that reaction she wanted the viewer to understand how it is for a 11 year old and how it's tough trying to please their parents culture according to her interview.

I want you to go to about 2:40. It seems like she doesn't fully understand western culture, it's why I said in another post I feel like this seems more of a French/eastern culture thing. Nothing she said makes you think she wants the viewer to feel disgusted from the shots. From what I interpret, she wants the viewer to understand what a pre-teen girl goes through from not only how women are overly sexualized but culture and home life as well. She hits home a lot on how her own upbringing and culture shaped this movie. I think she had the most noblest of intentions that doesn't translate well.
People said the Netflix picture controversy overshadowed the true nature and theme of the film, but if anything that picture downplayed just how bad this movie really was
The movie could have been made with the same goal and intention without some of the graphic scenes in the movie lol. I don't think the director had any bad intentions but yeah theres so many disgusting scenes in this from what I've seen that it's just going to be legal p*** for pedos.
people really defending a movie where 11 year old girls show their bare chests because the director is a black woman. I give up
Why did this warrant a movie, much less one with such graphic footage
This coulda worked way better as a book

You’re just blinding yourself from reality.
Reality can be so much worse than this pedo film. Let’s put that up on Netflix as well
F*** anyone defending this s***
this is child p*** period
Lol, this is literally fake news
They are watching a group of GROWN dancers and one of the GROWN dancers exposes breast for a split second
This film is pretty heartwarming and a good coming of age story, if not a little generic plot-wise
Some amazing acting from the lead girl I was shocked at her ability to show emotion, most child actors are complete s***
The way her relationship with her family evolved throughout was very touching, and the scene where they try to do an exorcism on her was nuts
not a bad movie whatsoever, there’s 2 or 3 moments where I felt like fast forwarding a couple seconds during the dance scenes, but most of yall acting like this the most controversial and deviant film ever made, when movies like Kids are much much more explicit and are considered classics by moviegoers

and this director clearly has talent, that final shot and a couple others were amazing, sad that her career will probably be tainted after the insane reaction this has gotten

!https://youtu.be/psJwJRpJMesDouble Toasted just did a great review. Should be out soon. All of them, including Chris were level headed and thought the film was decent.
Then you shouldn’t talk about the movie.
How about you go f*** yourself bud
