Both are true. Dave's been fallen off for a while, but that was something no one here wanted to acknowledge/admit until he got the Trans backlash, and tbf that last special was far and away his most dull, clumsy and lazy compared to that masterful 3 pack he gave us on Netflix before that. Jokes didn't flow into eachother he'd just ramble, finish with a weak punchline, then jump to a completely different subject
It wasn’t a standup I don’t know why people expected constant jokes. I feel like he laid out his point pretty damn clear. The stories and words he carefully chose led him to reasonable conclusion where I sit …
You guys are delusional. He has done major tours every year since 2013. Even before that, he still did a ton of standup across America and in london from 07-11. Even did tons of shows in the pandemic. He constantly supports other comics.
He has released SIX comedy specials since 2017. They’ve all been $$$ smashes. Won multiple Grammys and Emmy’s.
He says in this speech that his teacher, at his beloved high school where the current students protested him, told him to expand beyond just being funny. In one turn, her constructive criticism jump started his career because he didn’t take it well so he did his first night open comedy mic after she told him that. As he got older, he realized she was right, so he always tried to do more than just funny stuff, hence why you see other media released by him that is not comedy specials.
Motherfuckers are uploading biweekly podcasts talking about a whole lot of nothin but y’all get up in arms about a 40 minute acceptance speech. A speech, where he defers the honor of having his name on the theater he used to go to school at.
Y’all just don’t like the jokes and hate watch. The jokes are there and the fans will keep laughing whenever he releases
sorry buddy those threads exist, literally no one was criticizing him before that last special
when his George Floyd special dropped he was the voice everyone was waiting on
now you’re saying he’s been mediocre?
y’all can’t find receipts of this because they don’t exist
revisionist history ass
So if you bump them threads it won't be no criticism?
And I didn't say he was mediocre
He's been talking bout trans people not feeling him since his third special back Idk why you're acting like he got no criticism:koolaid:
The wild part about Chappelle fans calling revisionist history is because of his specials and comments you can literally see how long he's been having these debates so this isn't new
This true tho
after the last special everyone flipped but obviously he’s been had these thoughts so it’s not like we got a new Dave
It wasn't his last special tho in 2019 he had a whole bit during Sticks and Stones about this stuff

What does that have to do with what's being said itt? Because he makes money and wins awards that means it's great?.
It's crazy cause Dave big appeal use to be how he didn't need that stuff to validate what he said
So if you bump them threads it won't be no criticism?

yeah whatever buddy we know what you were on
It wasn't his last special tho in 2019 he had a whole bit during Sticks and Stones about this stuff
exactly so why are ppl flipping on him so much now, it’s clear he’s been on this wave
yeah whatever buddy we know what you were on
I love Dave I didnt say I didnt I even conpares him to Kanye my favorite artist ever. This is what I mean I don't have to believe Dave is nothing and doesnt matter for me to also think he's gotten stale.
or it’s just the truth
So youre saying Netflix put this under their comedian banner but it's not a comedy special?

Yes, Dave x Netflix are obviously in good relations with each other
it’s not a thing on whether or not he’s funny

Dave Chappelle’s biggest appeal to everyone that doesn’t b**** him is that he’s hilarious.
Just cuz ppl itt (whoever applies) don’t think he’s not funny anymore doesn’t mean the rest of the world isn’t laughing
He says in the special why it is so important for him to say what he wants when gets on the stage. He also tells stories about him being stubborn and possessive and then tells us at the end he is still stubborn lol.
exactly so why are ppl flipping on him so much now, it’s clear he’s been on this wave
People didn't flip he openly spoke in 2019 about them flipping then this has been a thing.
That special itself was incredibly polarizing
I love Dave I didnt say I didnt I even conpares him to Kanye my favorite artist ever. This is what I mean I don't have to believe Dave is nothing and doesnt matter for me to also think he's gotten stale.
Damn your s*** edited mid read lol
yeah whatever buddy we know what you were on
F*** the critics. He aight now, older comedians have surpassed him now but he’ll always be a GOAT to me
Yes, Dave x Netflix are obviously in good relations with each other
it’s not a thing on whether or not he’s funny
This is insane
So why didn't they just list it as a regular Netflix special like they did his 8:46 piece

I didn't say they weren't
So he’s giving a speech
And niggas are complaining because he’s not telling enough jokes
In a speech
People itt said he doesn’t tell jokes anymore, that’s bullshit. I call it like I see it. I loved Jerrod Carmichael’s directorial debut, and I loved Dave Chappelle grouping him in with high schoolers
This is insane
So why didn't they just list it as a regular Netflix special like they did his 8:46 piece
who cares what they label stuff as on netflix, that’s my point lmaoo
Dave does whatever he wants on there & they gonna rock with it. Don’t take it so serious
?
"Just because y'all aren't laughing that doesnt mean the world isn't" no one ITT said no one found him funny just they don't.
The fact you went full defense node and started listing accolades and success like that was the discussion kinda says the actual special isn't great.
