To be clear before people call anything hate. Sometimes you as a company , dev artist have to try other genres, ideas etc EVEN IF YOU FAIL. that way when you do come back to a property you learned a new perspective of how to refresh it. This has always been true. The issue is in recent times as in past 10 or so . Its become less about doing that and more about "oh our competition did that so lets just bite them or emulate it poorly vs put our own spin on it"

Example Splinter Cell mark and execute system went to hitman absolution both got flacked for goal of making games "too accessible" when accessibility should just be turning the difficulty lower or failing some til you win. If you want to watch the story online thats always available to you.

Trying to appeal to the greatest common denominator in gaming has lead to more than safe choices its lead to boredom. Its lead to some games feeling like a genuine chore to play . Gamers want to be the first to complete the chores with a gamerscore or trophy but its still exactly that A CHORE

lol thats why I wasnt mad selling my ps5 because I really dont like where they are currently going as much as I am attached to the ida of having a console cause I grew up with it. Neither company fully has the mindstate there. They both need to incur major losses to feel it and instead they both just laying off lower staff while racking up money for themselves

Played old games and half way through God of War PS4. You can be a fan of a franchise and think the design itself has gotten stale. Story and production level dope dope dope. Design though is what we talking about at a point

This game might be cool if it’s set in Egypt and they implement game design that respects my intelligence. Never cared about Norse mythology

I am talking about the first game not ragnarok. I never said ragnarok got stale. Ragnarok they did new things from what I saw some would be in for more playing as atreus some would not .

Design with same design team includes combat , bosses all of that is only going to change so much each game when the sales are the sales. Same as a spider man 2 . It did gang busters even if for many of us it didn't work

Factions team is heart broken lol I know some there too imagine you work that long on factions day in day out you losing time with friends and family for your work to be thrown out cause its enough monetization

and your best friend getting laid off

God of Sleep 2018 was hard but ragnarok was a big let down and I think I’m simply over this style of single player games

For the more passionate types sure, but a lot of people there are more a cog in the machine that get no input on what direction things go. Which goes for plenty of jobs in the world, you just hope for stability and enjoy your check.

It's like saying do people at Marvel get tired of making superhero movies or do heart surgeons get tired of doing heart surgeries? Does the mario teams or pokemon teams get tired of making their games? You knew what you were getting into when you applied for the job at this point.

And in the opposite manner there's people that love making whatever it is for years. There's people that love their job of working on COD, Mario, Zelda, Fifa, TLOU, etc

With the turnover rate in the industry it's very rare that people even last 10 years at one studio, there's a lot of new faces that come and go over the course of 10 years, so I don't think burn out is that strong for most employees.
