OP is the antithesis of "You're not that guy, pal". He IS that guy. Quite a turnaround from the reception he received on his previous account. Rebrand successful.
Put me on game bro
the fact that this is a bait account and he puts this much effort into this site every f***ing day is pathetic and sad @op i hope you get some p**** one day bro
Damn.
I would say “R&B” does that more because it goes into the deeply racist history of why “pop music” was created to sell black music to non-black people. Usher is R&B but Timberlake is pop
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_record
But you notice when he was selling a million copies first week and winning wild grammys they labeled usher pop lmao
While we’re at it let’s talk about black artists making pop songs but only getting put into urban contemporary music/ flat out called rap, or called rnb or some s***

R Kelly was called a rap singer in the early ‘90s

pop just stands for “popular music”
i thought
like music that has a wide appeal and transcends race / demographics
like people don’t call rock music pop unless a particular rock band has a smash hit then it gets labeled as pop, but it does get labeled pop
so with the usher example, selling millions of records means he’s popular, hence the pop title, i believe
i generally agree but for the R&B part, a lot of black pop and even alternative acts get called R&B just because they’re black, so I get the sentiment there
See this is true too but it shows how complicated the subject is. The Industry does have a history of boxing black artists in to "urban" categories so maybe this is where that "Im not a rapper" s*** comes from but I don't know if ktt is ready for that discussion it gets into the systematic racism that some are blind to (some really don't know about it but some ignore it on purpose)

Yea it's borderline pathetic.
Niggas like travis and ye really think they a weird painter or something s*** funny and weird lol but folks eat it up so maybe they onto something
this s*** still got me crying bro

Definitely i agree, but some artist need to stop trying to distant from the genre it’s ok to do multiple genres…but don’t make a song that sound like some 90s jodeci s*** but then cry because people are calling you an R&B artist

it depends on the sales
popular music = pop
so if an artists sells millions, they will be labeled as pop
if they don’t, they will be labeled in their actual genre
pop music encompasses all genres, really, once a particular song becomes a popular hit
R Kelly was called a rap singer in the early ‘90s
It’s like they think MJ is the only black person to make pop music, and even then I feel like they’d take that away from him if they could (false accusations, etc)

Yeah i know what pop stands for, but don’t call usher pop because he has a good year…but call JT pop even when his music ain’t doing s***

He’s right. Travis be creating the most grandeur persona and hype just to drop tracks like Escape Plan
And Travis stans will force you to believe Utopia will be any good off them mid ass songs
Always goes back to reference point. The stigma attached with rapper makes people run away and self define themselves as something else.
But I will never not see Ye as a rapper because he does so much rap s*** I cant be mad at him calling himself an artist.
He took Waka Flocka to Paris Fashion Week in 2011 to perform there. Bridging the gap since way back. Even him freestyling with Future shows me who Ye is. A Rapper.
Yeah i know what pop stands for, but don’t call usher pop because he has a good year…but call JT pop even when his music ain’t doing s***
i’m not saying there aren’t obvious examples of discrepancies, because there are, but i think with JT is because of his legacy with nsync
like beyoncé albums are all in the pop genre, she has mega hits and was in a successful girl group
