well tbf that isn't fully true. while it is true that it's not like a literal infectious disease, it becomes generational because fat parents tend to offload their disordered and unhealthy eating habits to their kids, resulting in childhood obesity. that's more a socioeconomic issue, but you don't necessarily see that being true with parental alcoholism or other forms of addiction.

This is true to some extent of course, but it's countered by the mass amount of legal and restrictive practices done to specifically act preventative to the adoption of smoking (within the US). This definitely worked as well, because prior to vaping, cigarette consumption fell dramatically in hte US

however, you don't necessarily see this with other forms of things passed on generationally which are just as unhealthy (hell, even alcohol). of course, i'm not advocating for a bloomberg nanny state, but i do think it's interesting where focus goes and doesn't in these circumstances
