Yeah I did powerlifting in high school and got back into it over the last several years. Only way to keep me in the gym and the gyms the only way I can keep my sanity. Been running Sheiko programs for the last 5-6 years now
I’ve tried powerlifting ever since I started lifting and I just can’t ever bring myself to get into it, but I know people who are passionate about it so it’s always dope to witness the numbers, just not for me.
I’ve been running Jay Cutler’s 4-day program as a 3-day program (I combined the 4th day into my 3rd) so I can hit it twice a week, for about 3-4 years now and results have been phenomenal. Also I use Mountain Dog (John Meadows RIP) and Jeff Nippard workouts on their YouTube’s as like my 2-a-day lifts, more for mobility purposes and that man John just knows how to get you burnt out with minimal movements.
One thing I love about fitness is there are so many methods to the madness. Just makes me happy to see how much people are taking it seriously nowadays compared to even just 5 years ago.

Yeah over the years I’ve messed around with different programs but the powerlifting programs have always been the best for me. Like I’ve done some crazy high rep routines when I was younger, but these days doing sets of 8 on squats is torture, and sets of 8 on deadlifts are a non starter lol. Also being able to see tangible progress through higher PRs is good for my mental because my body dysmorphia doesn’t allow me to see progress in the mirror lol
I let myself go a little bit after college both physically and mentally and the gym has been the best thing for me on both those ends. This world we’ve created for ourselves is damn near designed to keep you fat and depressed. I remember in my kinesiology class in college my professor was telling us that if all the benefits of exercise were available in a pill, everyone in America would be on it. I think one of the best things about all the mental health awareness the last several years is people really discovering how good the gym is for you both physically and mentally

I feel that bro, I guess I just took that mindset and applied it to bodybuilding where now it’s incremental PR’s on a plethora of workouts. Agreed that the rep ranges can be daunting, especially after lifting for so many years like we have been, but idk I just love that s*** haha
I think the same can be said for the alternative too bro. This last year has been the happiest I have been in a while and I managed to become the heaviest I have ever been. I think there’s a fine balance that has to be found because life really does move too fast when you’re having fun. Luckily I found that now and am back on track in a major way.
I’m happy for you too dawg, for finding your happy place/routine 🫡 I know how dark that s*** can get, especially when you’re not at your best physically when it’s happening. I think it’s amazing how far we’ve come as a society to find another outlet to feel better about ourselves mentally and physically

we all need the gym to help us physically and mentally like with me everyday its a competition me vs me and i think that is kinda bad for myself mentally because i am always having to prove to myself i can do it hitting PRS or lifting heavy at the gym and if i dont hit where i want to i get upset too plus i mainly do power lifting and been trying to push pass failer like today i did 95 lbs dumb bell chest press and i did 3x6 so like on the 2nd set i could only do 4 i rested for a bit and did 2 more its was a MF but it FELT SO GOOD ACCOMPLISHING IT TOO

I like having a defeatist mindset at the gym. Whether I hit my weights or not doesn't matter. Just do what I can.

Pushing the body to its limits
Few things give me a chest bump quite like barbell bench with a resistance band below me, wrapped to my hands
S*** so fye for reps
was doing heavy deadlifts today some guy i think he was 18-20 w.e said damn i seen you do crazy dead lifts what was your pr i told him my pr his face dropped like wow hs damn lol
Dumbbell bench press > barbell bench press
i personally have always done both on upper body days
Dumbbell bench press is goated.
Got up to 55 lbs each before falling off
If you’re doing pull ups you can def do more than 55s bro.
What would u add/take out (back)
Wide grip pull down
Seated cable rows
That machine where you’re seated with a pad on your chest and pull the things back
Single arm rows
Rows
Single cable rows
3 sets of each
I’m still working my way to pull ups, that should be in the rotation soon

Seems like you’re doing rows in one form or another for a lot of these. I switch up the rows I do every back day due variety.
I’d add in rope face pulls
Back extensions
Bird dogs
You should do some single arm pull downs too, those go crazy
