just got to Nibelhiem in FF7

@lucid reminded me that Disgaea 6 came out. Did this s*** sneak up on anyone else. I expected this to be a bigger release for some reason.

How're you liking it as a whole?

Only like 15 hours in right now but its been really cool so far, the dialogue, world and the gambit system is whats keeping me attached the most right now and the characters are actually cool as s*** (Balthier is nice asf; I really fw how some of the cast are a bit older in this game)

The world is seriously good, it feels like the most alive world out of the final fantasy games I played so far and the easiest one to get immersed into, theres tons of npcs walking around that you can talk to and I feel like 90% of them have something relevant to say unlike pretty much the majority of open world games that get released nowadays

Although tbh this felt kinda overwhelming at times with the amount of npcs actually walking around and the fact that after you complete certain story events the npcs get new dialogues so you kinda have to talk to all of them again if you dont want to miss anything

Also think the game looks really good visually but my biggest complaint is probably that the dungeons that I have done so far are kinda bland tbh, im pretty mixed on them so far as a whole actually. I can't imagine doing these without 2x speed

Last and pretty random but I also think its cool how instead of shiva/ifrit being summons they are actually the name of imperial fleets in this game lol, this game is just really different from the other FFs

the world building is really good from the 15~ hours i've played through like 3x

bathier is definitely a great character, and yeah, it is cool that vaan & penelo are the younger characters and they don't take up much of the story focus, whereas you have bathier and fran who aren't 15 years old with a mission to kill god or something. it's definitely a different departure from other ff games (like you mentioned with the imperials fleets being named after summons).

i think it being overwhelming was/is my issue. i tend to have that problem with open world games in particular (though open world games generally aren't great in the first place imo ), but i kinda felt the same with this. i'm sure i'd be fine if i just focused on the story and not worried about talking to every npc, do a bunch of side quests, etc.

both your's and @Wiggler's posts of your playthroughs really want me to give it another shot.
curious to see your thoughts on it as you get further into it.

Yeah I agree with you, ironically the world in this game being this good is actually what makes it so overwhelming. There have already been times where I finish like a story event/scenario and you are given this freedom to do hunts/side quests and talk to npcs before taking on the next one but it kinda just feels like too much. Feel like this the type of game you want to really take your time with if you want an amazing experience (although I still think you can really enjoy it if you skip out on some of the side content), im probably gonna end up skipping out on some of the side content and revisiting the game later on when I have some more time and my backlog isn't at the back of my mind 24/7

I like everything about FFXII outside of the status ailments so miserable

ya'll think it would be a dub to play bravely default and bravely second AFTER beating bravely default 2?

not sure how dusty those games are but I'd dust off my 3DS if they're worth it. I'm on chapter 6 of bravely default 2 and enjoying it a lot

Honestly you're not wrong, and the fact that we're even getting CAST phashion and outerwear for at least the next two months also makes it a hard.
