Finished the first act of one of the characters in the Octopath 2 demo. Assuming the stories are interwoven better than the first game, this s*** is gonna slap

Game looks beautiful on PC as well. Hell of a lot better than the first one on Switch since it looked pretty blurry on that lol. Need more HD-2D games

The music was also crazy good too and I only put an hour into it. Really looking forward to hearing more.

I went with Throné the thief couldnt pass up the noir vibes and the music (and set up) didnt disappoint

No kidding. Actually really excited to play the full game. Didn't know Throné's story had noir vibes Might have to beeline for her. I ended up picking Hikari. His latent moves were raw as hell

Also pretty interested in Osvald's (scholar) story. Plus I'm pretty sure he starts out in the snowy area, so you already know the music and visuals are gonna be crazy with HD-2D

yeah especially starting out. there's a really nice jazzy track that plays once you enter the town too. Her latent power is acting twice (just like Anna from TS)

i started Osvald's story when i found him passed out in the snow as Throné and he's def number 2 on my party list ran out of demo time before i completed it tho lol

played the first one on switch but this one will most likely be a ps5 purchase

Finished Episode Intermission of Final Fantasy VII Remake. The narrative content was lighter than I expected (I guess the developers didn’t want to do too much in a side story), though the little that is there does set Yuffie up to be a more interesting character throughout the rest of Remake.

Yuffie is such a well-designed character within Remake’s combat system in terms of versatility and nuance. Combat in Rebirth is going to go above the already excellent system in Remake if the rest of the party is brought up to par with her.

I was gonna get octopath on switch but this console is pure ass. Never copping a game on it if I can get it on a diff console

Don’t know why Square Enix wants to be such a goofy ass company and not drop it on Xbox even tho the first one is literally on gamepass but whatever.

Nah I was swapping back and forth between HDMI sources on my TV running the demo on ps5 and switch and it’s noticeable. Same exact story/scenes/battle sequences side by side

PS5 everything is much sharper. Even the text is clean and sharp while s*** was looking muddy and blurry on the docked switched. I checked handheld and it was slightly worse too.

PS5 had zero load time. Like walk through a door and next cutscene plays immediately. Switch had maybe 5-7 seconds of black screen. Not huge but just another disadvantage.

Then the biggest thing for me was particle effects in battle. Octo 2 really stepped up how pretty the battles look with it going 3D at times, lots of particle effects and colors. Everything just looks cleaner and more abundant on PS5. Some of the particle effects are scaled back on switch especially when on handheld some effects are totally gone.

I really see the appeal of JRPG’s on switch and I loved having bravely 2 and all that on switch but if it’s available somewhere else and it looks/run better then I gotta go with that option

while i didn't have a problem playing the first one and Triangle Strategy on the switch, i'm definitely taking advantage of a PS5 option lol

S*** sucks cus HD 2D is so perfect for docking with a handheld option. Like dead perfect type of game for the switch

Steam Deck about to come in clutch for Octopath 2

Octopath 2 reviews are out. 86/87 on Metacritic; seems like they fixed a lot of the issues with the first one. Really looking forward to playing this, especially after putting an hour into the demo.

Think I'm on Chapter 4 rn and it's been alright. I enjoy playing it, but I don't really have the motivation to hop on. I figured I'd like this more than 8, but it's not reeling me in for whatever reason.
