Just finished Final Fantasy VII Remake. Square did an incredible job in realising Midgar and bringing these characters to life. You can tell that a lot of care went in to the game with how it stays true to the spirit of the original VII while ramping up the production values.
The ending sequence does scare me a little bit given Nomura’s tendency to fly off the rails at the expense of storytelling. I hope the writers have a story planned out for the sequels so the series doesn’t end up like Kingdom Hearts.

funny enough, apparently nomura was actually one of the people who wanted the story to be more faithful to the original game. can't find where i saw the specific article though, otherwise i'd link it.
The SD card in my 3DS just died along with my save files for SMT4, Devil Survivor, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy 6

The ending sequence just gives me Kingdom Hearts secret ending vibes where Nomura will come up with a flashy scene with striking imagery (e.g. Cloud and Sephiroth having a sword-fight in space), but will then struggle to actually write a story around the scene when it comes time to develop the game that it belongs to.
I don’t even want to talk down on Nomura too much because I actually do like him as a director. VII Remake is great and the original Kingdom Hearts is one of my favourite games. I think he has a lot of cool ideas, but his work from Kingdom Hearts II and onward reveals that he does not have a very strong grasp of narrative or character.
just finished up ff9. what a phenomenal game. glad i finally gave it a chance.
ending almost had me tearing up too

GOAT ff for me and the game that got me into rpgs
it was really sakaguchi's masterpiece
Alright I'm back in JRPG mode.
Like a Dragon
Persona 4
Dragon Quest XI
And a slew of Final Fantasy games
Noticed after I took the pic my Disgaea 4, Nier, .Hack, Ys VIII & Secret of Mana aren’t shown. Anything else no shown I just don’t own. I have quite a list of items i’m no rush to grab.
My nephew has my Sakura Wars also.
What I need to pick up?
Can NOT wait for the Nocturne HD Remaster 😭
no kidding. glad to see they're taking out the random skill inheritance. hopefully that fix is out at launch for the western release.
been a couple of years since I finished Cold Steel 1 and 2 but I'm about to jump into 3 and then 4
I'm not a huge lore/story person when it comes to JRPG but I'm tryna brush up a little bit just so I'm not completely lost
