Loved my first listen of the new IE album. Wasn't too huge a fan of the EP from last year. But found this a lot more palatable and fleshed out.

    • Mmere Dane: Black Time Belt maps several historic all-Black towns and Freedom Colonies across the United States pre- and post- Civil war - many destroyed by displacement, development, racist violence, and environmental injustice. Mmere Dane: Black Time Belt functions as a Black Quantum Futurist archive of alternative past-present-future(s) where the towns form a network of Black temporal zones - or a Black Time Belt - protecting these communities from the impacts of temporal-spatial oppression and destructive linear progressive timelines.*

    Just dropped!

Keys to Creation is awesome, recording sounds great

I'll be honest unfortunately didn't rly have the headspace to fully appreciate their set at LGW fest after L'Rain already obliterated me. Had like 6 hours of sleep in two days and was almost out of control high lol. Kinda same thing for Microphones after even though that was very good too, feel like I just didn't have the full capacity to immerse myself in a set after the peak of the high wore of and it was more just extreme tiredness.

Not sure if Black Quantum futurism is a group she’s a part of? Or a separate group?

Either way, there was a BQF feature on Black Encyclopedia

I unfortunately didn’t love it like I anticipated :( Production felt way too safe for her—but it wasn’t bad at all. Just feel like it didn’t complement her the best. She was still talking that talk tho, of course

I felt the same way at first my friend

Once I realized her intentions with the album I came to love it

Next year she’s dropping a more experimental album called Jazz Codes. I think that will be more up your alley

No doubt. I think she joked that it was her sellout album in an interview lol. I think I gotta give it more tries

But yeah I’m stoked as s*** for that. Hoping it’s like Circuit City 🤞
