Studio Monitors are def the most accurate but the way the room is treated and the placement of them can have a big impact on that accuracy. Imo headphones are more consistently reliable if ur room isn’t treated. I honestly haven’t even had monitors for the last couple years (mainly due to $$$).

You can get some nice Audio Technica headphones for around $100 or less and they’ll get you right. Flat frequency response and all that jazz compared to some headphones like Beats by Dre which get drowned out in bass.

I'm broke af so I cant invest on studio monitors

investing on headphones tho isnt that much of a gamble so I'll take that route

I’m kind of scared to make my first beat. Is vinyl the best way to sample or do cd and mp3s work too? I have a laptop with great specs but no CD player lol. I have some vinyls and no turntable

FOR NEW PIANO PLAYERS AND NEW MELODICS USER

Anyone else using melodics? If you do should definitely learn C major scale and it’s proper fingering first. The c major scale’s chords, all its major and minor chords. When you get to melody lessons, Flourspar 1. The fingering is f***ed up on “Add the last quarter”. I’m using my left hand for C and E. Right hand for F-C. I raised the task bar to hide that fingering guide that keeps f***ing me up lol. Add this to your notes for future reference. They are more bout teaching you to walk and then run. Not so much learning piano fundamentally. Nothing wrong with that since it’s aimed at beat makers. Just letting y’all know.

I also use this to learn piano in short bites. You have to practice. I focus more on learning scales and chords. Don’t worry too much if you forget the patrerns he teaches to play over time. Always revisit, remember we are creators not some hired pro player. Ok to forget s***. Should still practice daily for muscle memory. Focus more on the tools given.

This app I use to look at scales and chords when bored on my keyboard.
    apps.apple.com/us/app/piano-chords-and-scales/id714086944

I like it’s UI, idk if it’s the best but i f***s with it.
(Add the title in caps because I think it’s worthy advice to copy and paste into your notes app on phone or pc).

Since I just started using FPC yesterday I was messing around with some of my fav samples, turned into 30 min of me doing the runaway “look at you” in god knows how many variations turning into me setting up my mic stand to see how hard it is to do those chops on beat then get right into the lyrics

I just set my pads in fpc to the most convenient keys on the keyboard , for something like the look at ya I’ll put that same sample on 2 different pads to make it easier to recreate it smoothly, I can record me doing it

Some people can do it quick, but for most you got a long way to go bro not to discourage you, took me about 5 years of taking music seriously to get signed
