how much money would i need to save to have a pretty powerful pc? and would y’all recommend building one or buying a prebuilt because i’ve never built one before so i’d lowkey be lost

I mean you could get something this and upgrade parts over time I guess, considering the GPU shortage and what not.

    Custom-built most definitely.

Hmm that depends on how powerful you want it to be. But I would say without the monitor and other PC parts so would it cost you at least around $3000 - $5000 and can be upgraded for at least the next 1-2 years.

I think it’s absolutely ridiculous how these companies just send parts to these tech youtubers for free while they can’t even keep up supply for their regular customers.

Just seen a YouTuber request all free parts and get them, then brick a f***ing 3060 and just ask for another and they sent it. A f***ing slap in the face to regular consumers.

I'm thinkin about building this year because the work I need to do for school is starting to get too demanding for the laptop I'm on and is just going to get even more demanding as I go along. So my best bet is to keep the laptop and build something that can last a few years and handle more complicated engineering stuff that runs pretty exclusively on PC/Linux.

I've been scouring this thread and noticed that prices are up on stuff and will probably have to wait to get my funds up and slowly acquire pieces to build, but I was wondering if I could get linked some helpful resources to get a basis of knowledge on PC building. Saw a couple YouTube videos that were annoying as f*** and was looking for something more straightforward and informative.

yeah been hearing way more rumors about it this last week and I hadn't heard anything about before

seems real looks like Nvidia is pushing back the 40 series and is doing a total refresh of the 30 series like the Supers

    would you buy one?

I'm still super happy with my 3080, waiting for the next 60%+ upgrade

I would buy one if it's a RTX 3090 Ti or RTX 3090 Super. But if I can't get one and the release of the 40 series GPU's is close so will I wait for the RTX 4090

hopefully supply issues are a lot better by then lol

yeah the rumors about the 40 series stopped coming out makes me think they could be cooking up something good

AMDs new GPUs are rumored to come out around that time and the top GPU is suppose to be two GPUs fused together into one card that's suppose to be the faster than anything out by 2x, it's going to use infinity fabric they patented with their CPUs

idk if those performance rumors are true but I'm sure Nvidia has heard them and is planning something

Intel is suppose to have some GPUs coming out this fall but I'm skeptical till I see something

Exciting stuff man... Especially the Nvidia/Intel stuff. But I think 2022 should be a better year overall compared to 2020-2021 as a lot of people should be able to get their hands on the GPU's/CPU's that they want and Nvidia/Intel is starting to understand more the things we want them to get right. Therefore man... I feel the wait will be worth it and I'm glad that I haven't started buying PC parts yet.

I don't want to wish that I should have waited instead of getting the current GPU's/CPU's as I want to get something that runs everything in 8K/60 FPS very smoothly and maybe it be capable of something over 60 FPS at 8K hopefully. Also where's the 8K monitors at 60 Hz and above... Gimme them ASUS, Acer, MSI, LG, Samsung etc.!

    Oh and btw...

    3090Ti?

I’m pretty good with my 3080 but I might try to get a 3080Ti depending on the performance benchmarks and reviews. I’d definitely be able to pay that off just by selling my 3080.

nice display technology is really starting to progress again feel like we had 3 years where nothing got better excited for more OLED monitors hope we get an ultrawide

yeah you'll definitely be better off waiting for new GPUs if you're going to want to play at 8k, that's an insane resolution even for today's GPUs

yeah thats a good point there is a lot of demand for this stuff but at some point people waiting for a faster GPU will get one

Yeah even though the RTX 3080 Ti was rumored to have more VRAM (20 GB"s I think it was) than what they changed it to which is 12 GB's of VRAM so is it still very good and I would get it instead of the current RTX 3080 for sure

But yeah I want them to make a RTX 3090 Ti or RTX 3090 Super... Or a RTX 4090 if I don't build a PC until some time in 2022.

@Nute You won't stand a chance because of its price or how fast it'll be sold out?

@Lil_Neon_Baebows True... Especially if we do in 2022 get some 8K @ 60 Hz (Or higher) gaming/content creation monitors and it's OLED's as well? Then sheesh man you'll then see me go nuts about it... I do really want one been made ASAP!

Yeah I really hope that everyone can some time in 2022 get the GPU's and other PC parts that they're missing plus that what Nvidia/Intel is working on will be able to easily handle native 8K games at 60 FPS or higher so I can see how much better things are on PC and also so it can handle 8K videos at 60 FPS or higher better on YouTube, on live streams or if I do make one... I just can't wait to see how good my experience will be once I've got all of the things I want

yeah that's gonna be a massive upgrade from your current setup

I know LG is making some OLED monitors but they're only 4k 60 at the moment will be exciting if some high hz OLED monitors come out, I honestly have trouble gaming on a LCD after using OLED for a while its just so smooth

most game engines are adding DLSS, the open source Microsoft Direct ML and AMDs FSR all for upscaling

can't wait to see all the next gen upscaling, I feel like that's the only way we will get high quality Ray Tracing at 4k120 / 8k60 with modern hardware in some more demanding games

Yeah it's hard going back to regular LED/LCD TV'S/monitors after owning something that uses OLED like a smartphone, TV or monitor. But OLED's still need to have their burn-in issues solved first before I do leave LED etc. TV's/monitors behind to though.

Yeah DLSS 2.0 helped make it actually useable and worth it for those who can't get an expensive GPU/CPU and do still want their games been close to 4K or 8K and at the same time at 60 FPS or higher plus Ray-Tracing as well. But I think that the 40 series of GPU's and CPU's coming in 2022 should be better at handling running games in native 8K at 60 FPS (Or higher) and also have some HDR-10 and Ray-Tracing.

And I hope that they will also have a Ti or Super version of every new GPU including the RTX 3090, RTX 4090 etc. as they're the best ones with the most power, features, VRAM etc. I am glad that they finally made such a GPU (RTX 3090) and it doesn't cost as much as a RTX Titan GPU. So yeah I am really looking forward to the next event from Nvidia, Intel and even AMD in 2022!

burn in has gotten a lot better in the last few years

they automatically dim static pixels and shift the image around on the screen by a few mm every once and a while you can barely notice it but it definitely helps, I have played games with HUDs up for hours and never had an issue

yeah definitely exciting times for new hardware excited to see what comes out in the next year
