Oh yeah you just reminded me of why it'll be a better idea to build a PC by 2022. One of the things is DDR5 been part of more motherboards and then also Windows 11 Pro been sold via retailers (Online and in person ones), Microsoft etc. by early 2022. Also the first DDR5 RAM sticks should be out this year actually so I hope what you're saying means 1-2 years starting from when they're out in 2021 and not 2022.

Also I hope Samsung will by then be releasing some more NVME M.2 SSD's as they're the best usually and well I don't want to have to get a Seagate one although they shouldn't be too bad... But for some reason so do I prefer the Samsung ones usually unless someday so does Sony make one. But that speed of the new Seagate Firecude 530 is impressive when it's about the write speed (7.3 GB's/s)...

    https://www.seagate.com/gb/en/news/news-archive/seagate-unlocks-the-next-level-of-performance-with-the-firecuda-530-pcie-gen4-nvme-ssd-master-pr/

But not the read one so far as the one the PS5 has is still faster so I hope that something even faster is out by early-mid 2022 hopefully... Or well Q3-Q4 2022 at least.

But regardless of how long it'll take so do I hope both software and hardware wise so will 2022 be a memorable year for me overall and in this case in regards to my PC experience as this will be the first PC that I'll get to build myself and tbh I am very excited about it

if its anything like DDR4 it will be a while maybe its diff this time tho honestly can't remember how the switch to DDR3 went lol

intersted to see games get optimized for the PS5s full bandwidth

that custom IO controller with the compression tech is already looking like a great move on Sony's part, I see most games that are PS5 releases are 40-60% most the times

now lets see what an actual next gen looks like trying to squeeze that insane compressed bandwidth, excited to see Forbiden West on my PS5 though I think it will show off the speed. the SSD speed is the biggest bottleneck to using higher quality models in games these days so I wonder if games will end up looking better on PS5 in the long run even though it has loss TFLOPS

DirectStorage API is what MS has though, Nvidia RTX IO is Nvidia's branding of it.. definitely think we may see bigger diferences in drives speeds in gaming after some of this tech gets added to more games which is definitely coming I think this winter we will get the first few games

that 7.3 is super impressive considering the PS5 drives only does 5.4 without the onboard compression on the GPU Cache Engine / Custom IO Controller

I see... I hope DDR5 becomes used in all or most of the motherboards coming in 2021 or 2022 as I don't want to wait too long before building a custom PC in 2022 hopefully.

And true when the consoles do get the good stuff and it becomes mainstream so does it help PC gaming as well and so will there be faster NVME M.2 SSD's and other technologies implemented into Windows and the inside PC parts like the GPU, CPU, motherboard and of course the NVME M.2 SSD. So it's a win-win thing for us gamers and also those who do use a PC for stuff like content creation, live-streaming etc.

Oh yeah I am glad that the PS5 this time got some unique and nice things like its NVME M.2 SSD... Which is actually 5.5 GB's/s in read speed and I believe something close to 9 GB's/s in read speed besides the controller and other stuff of course. So overall it's good to see consoles been more capable of handling demanding games compared to how things were with the PS4/PS4 Pro. I really hope that extra $100 or even if it's $200 or more will mean a more advanced and capable PS5 Pro

yeah I imagine anything with a new Intel CPU will be DDR5 by the end of the year, will the memory be faster than DDR4? I doubt it at that point but by this time next year we probably will start to see some faster higher end stuff

yeah it definitely helps to have consoles off harddrives and pushing boundaries with IO, stuff like that is easier to adapt for on PCs.. consoles get stuck with this outdated stuff for 8 years

yeah the 9gb/s is the compressed figure, it can actually do even more with oodle textures 17gb/s

    wccftech.com/ps5-io-system-to-be-supercharged-by-oodle-texture-bandwidth-goes-up-to-17-38gb-s

yeah I feel similar I hope they make a PS5 Pro but for it to be like $600-700 with a larger dedicated GPU maybe even some kinda dual die RDNA3 GPU and hope they wait a few years for power usage to go down and GPU clocks to go up some

Well good thing that I'll be getting the motherboards/CPU's etc. getting released in 2022 then... But I hope that the whole DDR5 thing will be worth it by 2022 and not make me wish that I waited until 2023. But even if this is the case so will it be better by the time I do build a new PC hopefully

Yeah typically (Until recently... You know PS4 Pro etc.) so is the console with the same hardware for 7 years which I wish gets changed after this generation to something like PC or a new version of the console every 2-3 years or well maybe even a yearly thing so we'll for example get a PS5 (2020; $499), PS5 Pro (2022; $599), PS5 Max (2024; $699) and then a PS5 Ultra (2026; $799) which is like how Nvidia releases their new GPU's... And then a PS6 in 2027 or 2028 which I hope starts at $599 so we can get some better stuff and so Sony can give us something that feels like truly advanced and next-generation and is for the hardware gamers and Technology people as I am tired of Sony holding back when I know that they can release something powerful, unique, innovative and maybe even have things that other consoles and even maybe PC's don't have.

Oh yeah this amazing compression thing Sony is using for the PS5 is dope. I love how it's used but I hope it won't have a negative impact on games as I don't mind smaller sized games but don't want this to take any of its quality and other stuff away and will therefore be more than okay with big sized games that are uncompressed. But still... Good stuff man!

True man... I want them to of course add the latest stuff like RDNA 3 (Or maybe RDNA 4 if it's out by 2023-2024) and then hopefully some 5nm (Or smaller) stuff to be able to be power efficient yet powerful and has the best possible CPU/GPU with better capabilities and speeds. So yes I want them to move away from the APU stuff and go back to the PS3 days or something even better if possible like on laptops... Or wait no even better something like a desktop or close to it please. Plus something exclusive like they did with PS5's NVME M.2 SSD

Lol all of this is me daydreaming... But hey maybe so will they do it someday since they're starting to notice that people like us do exist, want this kind of stuff and now that they're putting games on PC too so will that influence them to give their PlayStation fans/consumers something more advanced and satisfying as I am sure that Tech lovers that want the latest and greatest do exist among the console players too and not just the PC guys

can't even imagine what gaming tech will be like by 2028

but yeah I bet they'll do a slim first and then probably do a Pro in a few years like you said.. yeah exactly it was a bummer the PS4 Pro was a little under powered and out of date I don't think they'll do that again though hopefully

the PS5 slim really should be their focus for the budget stuff that's old tech just made cheaper with a newer process

yeah I'm sure there will be all types of PC tech for uping bandwidth soon enough, compression helps with the game sizes but it can also make the games look better quality if its done right with some kind of lossless compression it will allow higher detail models to be displayed because the data bandwidth is higher

I hope Cloud gaming isn't part of it... But other than that so yeah the thought of it is very exciting as I do imagine a lot of positive changes happening like Cross-Play and Cross-Save/progression for example. Oh and... I hope stuff like PC cases and PSU's will also go through a lot of good and needed changes as I do think they need to not be ignored and focused on as well!

Oh yeah a PS5 Slim is also coming. But I think they'll release it at the same time as the PS5 Pro... Or well there will only be a 2 months difference between them so let's say the PS5 Slim is out September 2023 or 2024 and the PS5 Pro is out November 2023 or 2024. Or maybe so will it be different this time and so will we get the PS5 Slim in November 2023 and then a PS5 Pro in November 2024 maybe if it'll be better for it so it could for example have better specifications and sell better because of it not releasing not many months after the release of the PS5 Slim. I just hope the whole thing about the PS5 consoles been in stock or not is solved by 2022 or 2023

Well if they can do it without the loss of anything then fine... But I don't it to be forced or be the standard unless nothing changes but only making us gamers save unnecessary use of space. Other than that so am I cool and happy with uncompressed games and don't mind buying bigger sized NVME M.2 SSD's if it means me getting the games I want in their full size and quality :

If you live next to a micro center. I have two that's an hour away from me if I didn't already have a 3080 I'd drive up to one of them. Keeping up with the stock updates on them, they've had tons of stock over the past week and they only allow one per household for 30 days iirc.

If not, try next week when Best Buy drops online.

The online stock isn’t very accurate just fyi. You should try early Friday.

Edit: Nvm you said you’re away. Damn, they do random drops to stop people from lining up early throughout the day so try after work when you start working maybe?

nah they seemed pretty strict about the raffle thing, they have a whole system, seems like theyre getting more tho so ill keep trying, as long as the card i picked up today works i should be good for a while

One of my fans stopped working, well not stopped, it just seized up and is really stiff. But I don't trust myself enough apply some multi-purpose oil and risk ruining everything, so I just ordered a new one off Amazon.

Side note: I tried going to Best Buy first, so I can just have it now instead having to wait for it to be shipped to my house. And not only do they not really sell PC parts, but in general it's weird that their really aren't common PC stores anymore.

Yes indeed... I hope Nvidia doesn't just make a RTX 4090 and then stops there as it seems like they won't be making a RTX 3090 Ti or Super unfortunately and if they do that with the RTX 4090 too so don't I hope them never making a GPU like the RTX 3090 in terms of VRAM, power and it been the GPU for people who want a lot of VRAM, higher resolution gaming and stuff like 8K etc. It was a nice surprise for me when it got revealed plus it's cheaper than expected and is for enthusiasts like me who want the best of the best.

And it still like does the whole SLI thing which is good if it's useful and doesn't just give you some small benefits. Also it seems like the supplies for GPU's etc. will start getting better this year and in 2022 as well so it seems like it won't be a long and tiring experience for me getting all of those PC parts and finally starting my own thing and having all I need... Either way I'm excited about the RTX 4090 and the Intel i9 12900K and whatever motherboard, M.2 NVME SDD etc. out during 2022

It sounds very promising in terms on what the 40 series will deliver in power, VRAM and such stuff... I think me not getting a RTX 3090 will be worth it once the RTX 4090 will be revealed!

Also things should overall be better because of DDR5 and I think the RTX 4090 should also be using GDDR7 while the RTX 3080 Super etc. might use GDDR6X right?
