is the mobo you currently have compatible with the 9900k
if so i'd just roll with that until like zen 6 or something, unless you stream or need the extra cores. if so then yeah sell the 9900k and pick up a B550/X570 for the 5900x. or go B450 with good VRMs like a tomahawk.

if you sell the 9900k and the mobo you can probably get about $400-450 (off the top of my head, could be wrong tbh) for that, and break even on a 5900x if it's on sale

I already have the mobo and 5900x just a pain to instal
And yeh id get $500-600 cad easy selling the 9900k and mobo
ASROCK B550M-HDV (or B450 if it's subtantially cheaper)
like $80 cheap board should get the job done
edit: i also would recommend the MSI B550-A PRO if you want to do anything more than attach drives and run a light linux OS on it
the eventual plan was to run a plex/jellyfin server on it, think a baby mobo can handle that? Will just be for 1-2 users

yeah it should be able to handle it no issues.
the asrock board only has 4 sata ports though so it might be worth considering another itx board if you need more, but otherwise that's the cheapest b550 out there i believe.
🤔
indeed.
Btw...
Yeah imma keep my eye on this or the i9 13900KS

you can get a god tier rig with 5k
you can get a god tier rig with 5k
any recommendations as to a good site. I know of artesian builds and power gpu.
Yea idk how to build pcs
Alright I'll find a very good one for 6K then
Or you know what... Man I don't like this pre-built thing. Lemme put together the PC parts you need to build one yourself and link 1 or more videos on how to build it and believe me that PC for 5K or 6K will be better than the pre-built one for sure.
Btw... 5-6K with or without a mouse, keyboard, monitor etc. ?
Anyway here it is...
And it's $37.32 more but worth it which means it's $6037.32 ... So yeah enjoy this PC famo
But if you can wait so will better parts be available during mid-late 2022 but if not so is all of those parts currently in stock
My bad I almost forgot about this. So here's a video about how to do it...
