Yeah that did kinda come out of nowhere but overall it worked for me mostly because it felt like they’ve been sorta setting up certain ace pilots as special in a way beyond skill, so I sort of saw it coming. It kinda felt like the force which makes sense considering this was clearly influenced by Star Wars which only came out a couple years earlier.

Watching the movies now and they really did cut out way too much character development stuff but some of the new animation and scenes establishing the newtype concept early are nice. It’s a solid way to refresh yourself on the material after already seeing the show.

Also Gundam Wing OP song still 10/10

is the orphans series any good? havent watched gundam since i was a kid but the barbatos kit is the best looking gundam i have ever seen idk why the design alone has caught my interest

The gundam itself took a while for it to grow on me.

The show is pretty decent too.

The main character hella boring though. And the main love interest kind of a drag too. The supporting characters are better

Finished Zeta. Really great series, a classic for a reason. However I just started ZZ and I honestly kinda like it more in some ways. Kamille as a protagonist took over half the show to become likable and I get it was intended development but it was painful at moments especially compared to how understandable Amuro was in the original series even at his worst. People complain that the tone of ZZ is so different and I just don’t see it, it’s for sure more lighthearted but in a good way and it’s a solid change of pace. Lot of likable characters in this one, great animation, and the world building continues to be solid, I don’t really see the problem.

As a lifelong Gundam fan i'm actually not knowledgeable about the lore at all Im one of those that grew up on Wing and G Gundam in elementary school on Toonami. Watched 00 and Seed as a teen and liked both. IBO season 1 which I loved. But i've seen legit none of the UC stuff. I play the games. I have Breaker 3 and New Breaker. I have the VS games too and an import of the Switch game. But I really want to get into the UC universe. Hella intimidating though and my attention span is s***. I cant even sit through Wing anymore

Just watch the three compilation movies for the first Gundam series and you can go almost anywhere from there

I f*** with the UC timeline for the most part but the future stuff like 00 and Iron Blooded Orphans are good.
