one thing that’s always stuck out to me is that it seems like white and lighter-skinned actresses of color typically tend to experience their career peaks in their 20s-early 30s whereas most black actresses don’t seem to reach their heights until their 40s. Viola Davis, Taraji P Henson, and Regina King are great examples of brown/dark actresses who have been working and booking things for decades but only really started to receive mainstream clout and recognition within the last 10 years when they were in their 40s
I think this is because Hollywood is always eager to cast black women in the sassy, strong older woman of wisdom role. but when it comes to being youthful, attractive female leads, white actresses and those of lighter hues are preferred. interesting dichotomy
Even by Disney standards, Shake it Up was awful. It's pretty surprising just how big Zendaya's become. Feels like she's having the career that Raven was meant to have

What an arrogant b****.
She has been in nothing but trash so far. Except from maybe Nope, havent seen it yet.
Whole comparion is ridiculous. Only thing that matters for mainstream success/audience is looks and to that audience she just looks like a common black woman.
Its confidence nigga but insecurity got you feeling the opposite

Spider-Man, Euphoria, and social media all throughout the pandemic made her a star. I think part of it was so No Way Home would make more money

Raven was the only popping one black girl until 2017
if y'all havent noticed, hollywood is doing this thing where they have mixed-race(racially ambiguous) actors as lead protagonists. why? because its safe - less controversy from both sides.
