before i speak do yall agree
like this movie was enjoyable but i think i went in with heightened expectations because people (and marketing) are giving it soooo much. greatest openings EVER? man come on
i will have to rewatch to fully form my opinion on this but i kinda wish i would’ve went in blind ala Barbarian

it’s a good opening no doubt but idk bout all that
this person on twitter said thought the supernatural aspect was just shoehorned and not done well. It should’ve been a straight up crime thriller because that’s when it was good and interesting. Silence of the lambs style and i heavily agree. i think that’s my main issue with it. everything was beautifully shot and the armosphere was so dreadful but i feel like it jumped the shark in part 3

but i suppose you can technically say they did incorporate it in the beginning with the callouts to satanism so

It’s a really great opening tbh but one of the best openings idk about that
Seems like it’s more divisive than I thought but definitely cause of the marketing. I personally loved it

Idk about “EVER” but I do think this part, from the opening to the smash-cut to the title card, is the scariest in the movie
I understand how those disappointed feel. People told me forever that Hereditary was the scariest movie of all time and s*** but I still don’t like that movie like that
we will have different opinions. Plus horror can be very subjective and divisive in general

i went in blind and i feel like i share a very simliar perspective on the movie based on ur posts
Also very dope to immediately get rid of a ton of mystery in the first minute of your movie IMO, assuming that the rest can still keep our attention
This is the guy, this is the reason he calls himself Longlegs, and here’s the main kid.

fully agree with this. that's why the first 30 minutes of the movie felt so strong
ok so i just got out of this, i have thoughts…..
the atmosphere, cinematography, and the acting of both malika and nic cage are on 10 with this. nic cage in particular was so magnetic and used brilliantly, he does not waste a single second of screen time and honestly if i say who he draws a comparison to in this imma get killed by certain fanboys lmao
the only problem i have with this, well maybe not a problem with the movie itself just the marketing, is that it is nowhere near one of the scariest movies in recent history lol. s*** in a violent nature was more stomach turning than this
but all in all a very well crafted movie
Say it
wait waht??? This is getting compared to prisoners?
You’re not doing yourself any favors with these comparisons lol
aight f*** it ill say it
nic cage in this is probably the closest anyone has come to capturing that “heath ledger joker” feeling. not saying he was as good, just the character and mannerisms reminded me too much
I thought the same thing
@twitch
I like her I like her
Nobody I went with liked this but me
These girls did not f*** with the psychological aspect of this at all. They just wanted some upfront dumbass jump scares.

It’s up there for sure

Most definitely and I’ve seen too many horror movies

this how I feel too. too many ideas thrown into one that kinda took away from its strong points
