What exactly does that mean? I never exactly got that criticism because his subject matter is extremely different from what it used to be in his take care/sfg/tml days.
He went from Goofy super pop simp to Mob Boss-ish figure that wants revenge and is still kinda simpy. Oh and he talks about his kid. I'm not tryna dismiss people but I don't get it because
His beats have changed and gotten more eclectic
His voice has gotten more mature
His subject matter has gotten darker.
Like what do niggas actually want from dude?
For him to change his entire persona and style of music? Because thats not realistic and the only mainstream figure in rap history that's ever done that successfully is Kanye and MAYBE Jay-Z (he still raps about the same s*** he's just way more socially aware) .
I want people who aren't fans of Drake to tell me what the ideal album from him would be in their opinion because I personally don't get that critique .
CLB-Views-Scorpion-IYRTITL are all thematically and sonically different enough IMO.
At this point the music he’s making isn’t furthering his overall artistry and is just hits and stuff
Regardless of my enjoyment of it
Make something that doesn’t rely on high first week sales for validation.
damn... the goal posts are moving again?
His beats have not gotten more eclectic, that is objectively false
Listen to clb n tell me that isn’t eclectic
Feel No Ways, Days In The East, Signs, Know Yourself are evolution
Copying other genres, making tik tok music and bland trap is devolution
Listen to clb n tell me that isn’t eclectic
There aren’t that many songs I’d describe using that term, a few are pretty reserved for drake
I don't want him to evolve in a way of changing up the sound radically or some s***
I want him to evolve in a conceptual way - go away from dropping these albums that are all over the place, make it more concise. He needs to evolve approach wise.
people want him to stop making music for people that go outside and make something for moms basement dwellers
people want him to stop making music for people that go outside and make something for moms basement dwellers
Imagine making music for other people and not yourself
IMAGINE MAKING MUSIC FOR YOUR INCOME SOURCE AND NOT YOURSELF
13 songs with Kaytranada beats and a Charli XCX feature
in damn
that’s a good idea
It’s okay for people to not like your fav
