Living like kings in Ohio > scrapping by in NYC tho
to each their own but nah
Depends on what u value. For example if u love going to concerts then you'll be missing out on a lot of acts cause not many are gonna do the small town circuit
they're all in columbus mainly and living there damn near just staying in a major city with bigger benefits
to each their own but nah
5BR house with a big backyard and pool and two grocery stores within walking distance
I hate city living lol
i make $25 an hour and i am deep in debt right now, barely making it on my own paycheck to paycheck. i make more than a lot of my friends which is really f***ing depressing
104k pre-tax does a lot more than barely get you by in NYC, maybe for a family you’re scraping by but an individual can live very comfortably with that money. NYC cost of living is insane but 104k is 104k

where in Ohio are you?
where in Ohio are you?
Outside of Youngstown, I'm originally from this area
1.5hr to Pittsburgh or Cleveland
104k is definitely liveable in NY unless you wanna live in a 4k / month loft in Manhattan
"With the average rent in Brooklyn being $2,644, you’ll want to make about $8,813 per month or $105,756 per year. The general guideline is to pay no more than 30 percent of your monthly income on rent."

its not just manhattan. ofc living w roommates would help and ofc there's probably ways to stretch the money. living a comfortable middle class life without any sacrifices needs that 105k salary tho, at least according to this source
Not meeting the rent “rule of thumb” doesn’t mean you’re barely scraping by lmao
That rule is frankly just outdated

I live in cinci and i’ve seen beyonce, hov, ye and the weeknd here. plus it’s not a huge state I can get to Columbus in like 2 hours driving
between average rent prices (housing crisis), cost of living + goods, student loan payments, etc, its pretty hard to get by in most notable cities in the country

Big artists yeah but I was more so talking about the more underground niche artists that usually only play shows in their own cities or just LA and NYC if they do venture out. It's one of the reasons I moved to LA, to be closer to that and that alone has made it worth it for me. I'm from the Midwest originally(MI) and none of these artists would ever come there
100k is like 50-60k in some cities essentially. It sounds good if you don’t think about student loan debt, credit card debt, car note, groceries, etc. majority of people, our reality is that many people don’t climb their way to 100k+ income debt free.
As a single person yes you’re doing alright, try raising a family off of that, you’re literally living paycheck to paycheck still.
It’s like $1500 just to live in a studio nowadays. Ain’t no level of financial literacy justifying these rising prices. You cannot save your way out of poverty.
I agree, but I swear some ppl itt are saying that it's not liveable anywhere in the US lol.
And yes, 50-60k is about right for a semi comfy life if you're frugal.
But yeah 6 figs in most places outside the big main cities will have you living good tbh s*** a family might be doable as long as your lady is contributing something. Saving on daycare is huge.

You can’t use average
There’s apartments that are 8k plus or even 15k/month that push that average figure wayyyyyyy up
You’d need to look at median rental price and how many rentals are around that price point
lol most amerikkkans living paycheque to paycheque are just middle classers living above their means
this was true 10-15 years ago
this is inarguably not true and even niggas from goldman sachs will tell you you're wrong
please dont talk about things you dont understand
I used to date a girl who made about the same as me. She would not compromise on s*** with her lifestyle. Would buy me Bigby coffee almost everyday against my will(like $20 a day if you count both orders) would book us a hotel room every weekend for no reason. Had a $700 car lease, not even a note but a lease. Would doordash almost everyday. Had a townhouse that cost $2000 a month for her and her dog and lived alone. Would buy an ounce of weed every week of some top shelf s*** too.
She made about 80k a year in the midwest but was always complaining about money. If you can’t survive off 100k anywhere in America you’re just not budgeting. How bout instead of paying $700 a month for a car note you stack up for 8 months to afford a sizeable down payment to make the monthly cost lower? I swear most young people with money just jump straight into a luxury vehicle soon as they touch some pape and be wondering why they struggling when they put 2k down on a $30k car with a s*** interest rate.
I seriously doubt anyone who isn’t self loathing thinks they can’t save money on a 100k salary. You just can’t live like a king off 100k like how you could when we were growing up.
Come on it may not be the best in some places but its absolutely liveable everywhere
It's common for folk in the biggest city to live a lil outside where it's cheaper or maybe a more rough neighborhood..if you not prepared to do that, it's a choice you've made ultimately. You don't have to live in the more expensive parts of city.
