Oh yeah I forgot I bought the steel book launch edition of persona 5 royal fellas. Prolly gonna go through it after last of us remastered play though
Someday Iāll replay Persona 4 on PC
Thatās saying a lot of how good it is. Iāve never replayed a game of that length before.
Is it another 100 hour game like 5? I bought it but havenāt touched it just yet
I bought a 15 foot HDMI for my TV to PC just in case I felt this way about a PC game
Yooo I should do that

It's more like 60-70 hours
Kaneshiro is an interesting antagonist in how he relates to Makoto: he doesn't share much of a personal connection with Makoto, but instead serves as a stand-in for the antagonistic forces that her character faces. He's thematically consistent with the gameās other antagonists and serves to further Makoto's character arc, but their conflict is not as emotionally charged as Ryuji and Ann versus Kamoshida or Yusuke versus Madarame.
I like how Kaneshiro's distorted desires are rooted in insecurity over being preyed upon, which mirrors Makoto's anxiety over being pushed around. The difference in character being that Makoto decides to rebel against her abusers, whereas Kaneshiro becomes an abuser himself.

I think the fact that Kaneshiro is somewhat removed from the Phantom Thieves at a personal level is actually beneficial though LOTS of people (at least before Royal) seemed to see it as a detriment. People say the arc loses points because his relationship to Makoto isn't the focus.
I disagree though, I think that he plays his role well in the sense that by being out of the spotlight his arc gives some needed development to the phantom thieves as a unit, during the bank palace we get some amazing moments like Makoto and Ann's resolution. To me that's just as important as having a personal, compelling villain (which IMO Kaneshiro is anyway)
Also to add to your point, Royal really plays up his insecurity and anxiety of no longer having control (piggytron and fly goons in his boss battle) and the Japanese version of the game has some clever wordplay during the vault puzzle which does this as well. He really does parallel Makoto in some ways even if it isn't that blatant. I like it a lot
I'm interested to see how the English cast makes this more interesting to watch. Really want to see them work their magic

Personal ranking since no one asked:
Persona 4 is a top 5 game ever made, is a 10/10 and does everything better than Persona 5 except graphics, social link activities and potentially battle system (They feel the same to me and are basically equal).
Persona 5 is a solid 8/10 with arguably the best gameplay Iāve ever played but with a lot of annoying characters, some poor dungeon design choices, and one of the worst stories Iāve ever played in a videogame.
Persona 3 I have yet to finish well because it feels like a chore to play with itās outdated battle system, itās awful as all get out tiredness system, and the amount of grinding it takes to be able to exit Tartarus at a spot I wish to leave at.
Persona 1 and Persona 2, where can I play them?
persona 2 is two games, innocent sin and eternal punishment
you can buy both for psp

Those games are drastically different from the modern trilogy and are extremely archaic in dungeon design and combat, however P2 has an incredibly strong narrative if you can tolerate the s***ty gameplay.
I personally reccomend reading the P1 Manga and just watching a play through of 2 unless you're a die-hard SMT fan.

Itās an 80 hour game unless you take your time

My psp is broken

I think the conflict between Makoto and Kaneshiro would have been emotionally stronger if it was more personal, but Iām not begging for it as there are enough interesting things happening in the narrative during the Kaneshiro arc. Makoto still has a strong character arc even though her conflict with Kaneshiro is less personal, and we start to see the Phantom Thieves grapple with this idea of proving their justice in light of Akechiās comments (which is also central to Makotoās character).

And that's you're personal opinion. Its nothing wrong with what you said.
I think P5 is miles better than P4 and P5R solidified it for me. The only dungeon in P5 I think is bad is of course Okumura and even then a lot of people have started to come around to it except the boss fight. I think P5R theme and story is no where near the worst story in video games. At least one person can relate to every personal arc the phantom thieves had. From sexual molestion to being controlled by their parents, to not feeling wanted by society, or being told nobody loves you. P5 music is some of the best music I heard from a video game and each piece of song has some relation to where it's being played. It's musicians on Youtube that have dedicated full on video series breaking down each song. Of course it's not a perfect game but to say it has one of the worst stories in video games you played is mindblowing. You must haven't played a lot of games to say that.
But like I said nothing is wrong with what you said you're entitled to that.
Something about people giving high praise to any of the other Persona games while s***ting on P5 in particular really confuses me, but I guess the beauty of it is that all of the game's provide a pretty unique experience, so there's gonna be lots of variety in opinions.
Personally it's one of my favorite game series ever but man, all of the games are so easy to pick apart that I die a little inside when people play up any particular (modern) entry's flaws while acting like the other games do anything significantly better

I still gave Persona 5 a 8/10 so I wasnāt hating on it. Itās good, itās fun. I wouldnāt finish a 100 hour game if I downright hated it
Never played 4 Golden but don't see how it could even touch 5 Royal.
Probably nostalgia speaking

Story and likeable characters are highly subjective categories. If someone, like myself, likes the characters and story way better in Persona 4 then it would be easy to like 4 over 5 despite 5 having slightly better gameplay.

Oh sorry that post wasn't about you in particular. I see it ALL the time on Twitter and other places though
I seen someone s*** on 4 and 5 for pacing issues then praise 3, the game where nothing happens in the first 6 months. (And I LOVE 3)
Any of the games are totally valid to have as your favorite. I just think some fans of the series take the elitism and selective criticism for these games way too far when none of the games are without flaws
5 is a solid 11/10 if 4 is a 10/10. Someone explained to me perfectly how 4 isn't better than 5 and they absolutely stan 4 idk how Atlus can top it with P6. S*** has to be flames.
