i thought the original ending was slightly better as it was more bittersweet while the new one is extremely happy. still a very good ending though
marie's new content and integration into the story isn't bad but her personality is so god awful before that point
yeah shes definitely hamfisted before the story becomes about her
Idk it'd probably do good for me to play the game again before continuing to opine on P4G vs P5
Lmao man it feels so weird tryna play p4g on PC I need a way to stream it to my TV or something I like multi tasking too much
ADHD ass nigga. IDK how you play P5R while doing a guide. s*** absolutely ruins the immersion to me

I bought a 15 foot HDMI for my TV to PC just in case I felt this way about a PC game
I cant even play casual games without having like three different videos and music playing too, ngl
I remember being able to grind on P4G for like hours on end just doing that, man I hate technology and my attention span

Cuz I played the s*** once and got it memorized, only thing I didnt blow past was any new character dialog otherwise it was just autopilot to get the plat
I'm just bored sitting thru all the text at the beginning of P4G since I made it up to after the 1st palace or w/e they call it in this game when i was playing on the pstv

the beginning of P4G is no different than P5 imo, at least they don't use a s***ty cat to vocalize why you need to go to bed every night though
initially I was okay with morgana being the device for Atlus to have you move the way they want you to, but over time I see morgana in my nightmares and I just cant get past it

Yea but i was playing that on playstation so I could just have a podcast or scroll the internet while most of that was intro portion went on
THat's an argument I havent heard put exactly how you put it, but kinda vocalized before, and that's perhaps why I dont ever put P5 over P4. P4 literally designed their dungeons to give every character maximized development, for a good chunk of time
I havent gotten far in P5R at all, but Haru is literally a side show in the OG game and after his initial palace, Yusuke is basically a Futaba quip counter. Takamaki takes a significant backseat once you get Makoto in (everyone does though).
IDK if 5R remedies that, but with having to make Kasumi and Akechi feel just as important, I imagine it doesnt

I donāt agree with this sentiment. In both Persona 4 and 5, the bulk of each characterās development occurs during the conflict with their respective antagonist and in their social link. Development is usually static or incremental once a character is no longer the focus of a story arc (which is fine).

Honestly, characters taking a backseat as the cast grows doesnāt really bother me. Even in Persona 4, itās primarily Yosuke and Naoto (once she joins) who are driving the Investigation Teamās actions. Itās a situation thatās hard to avoid when you have a cast thatās this large and always together, but as @Wiggler said before, the characterisation of each individual still contributes to the group dynamic.

I thought P4 gave characters way more development during those dungeons, is what I was trying to say. Like no P4 character gets as little development as Haru. Haru had the worst dungeon I've played in either game (or 3 Portable), so maybe it's not fair to judge both squads by abnormalities.
To your second point, I think it's just how parties take a backseat. Like if Naoto, the ace investigator, is the device that helps the investigation team investigate, then fine, im with it. I just felt like everyone else just became dumb and useless once Makoto rolled in, and I know they kinda touch on that in a cheeky manner with Morgana and some other ways, but it doesn't make it feel better to me
Maybe it's just I like one party dictator more than another, cause Im not the biggest fan of Nijima chan and after you play with Yukari its really hard to f*** with Makoto
Personal ranking since no one asked:
P5 > P3 > P4 > P2 > P1
3 and 4 are interchangeable and 2 needs a remaster with some gameplay tweaks desperately. Also I just didn't like 1

About 99 hours to go
Enjoy the ride
Having a stroke over this revelation
Also the voice of Nier's A2 and Cyberpunk's Female V
I'm conflicted

her VA with A2 and Makoto were both amazing tho
I enjoy the subplot between Ann and Makoto during the Kaneshiro arc: they're initially contentious over the abuse at Shujin but gradually reconcile and become friends in a way that ties in to Makoto's character arc. It was harder to appreciate in the original Persona 5 because of the rushed localisation, but it's much clearer in Royal and adds a lot to these characters.
This still the GOAT game. I hum at least one random song from P5 a day. Love this game.
Personal ranking since no one asked:
Persona 4 is a top 5 game ever made, is a 10/10 and does everything better than Persona 5 except graphics, social link activities and potentially battle system (They feel the same to me and are basically equal).
Persona 5 is a solid 8/10 with arguably the best gameplay Iāve ever played but with a lot of annoying characters, some poor dungeon design choices, and one of the worst stories Iāve ever played in a videogame.
Persona 3 I have yet to finish well because it feels like a chore to play with itās outdated battle system, itās awful as all get out tiredness system, and the amount of grinding it takes to be able to exit Tartarus at a spot I wish to leave at.
Persona 1 and Persona 2, where can I play them?
