If the switch is all you got then get Sword and Shield. It's the only main series game on the switch along with Lets go Pikachu/Eevee and the mystery dungeon remake.

I was hoping that they had some older versions in the archive, which was apparently stupid of me.

I haven’t had Nintendo anything for a long time, so I’m getting back accustomed to their s*** with software...

While S/S has issues out the ass. Like to me it's the worst Pokemon main series game. I only say that because for how powerful the Switch is these games should not look the way they do or be barebones. The only Pokemon games on the switch is

Let's Go
Mystery Dungeon
Pokken

That's why I recommended that. Not that much to choose from lol if you can find S/S on sale grab it. If you want to play through Kanto for the 8th(exaggerating... Like 5th time) time then grab Let's go. Mystery dungeon is pretty fun, but it's not a long game. Pokken is a fighting game.

Gen V. Play Black and White because they're how Sword and Shield SHOULD have did the dex purge. Then play Black and White 2. Play HeartGold and SoulSilver too.

I pretty much finished this joint with the expansion man this was not that good. Seemed way to cookie cutter for me. I think it’s the fact I don’t get to explore freely but compared to playing Diamond and emerald and crystal the first time vs this I’m really disappointed

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War uses an engine that originally dates all the way back to the first game which used a version of IW Engine 4 which was used in Modern Warfare 2, they've just been upgrading since

not that it's the best comparison ever but...

the engine that Pokemon Sw/Sh uses to run was indeed carried on from 3DS because that seemed like a more efficient idea than building entirely from the ground up especially given the allotted time frames to make these core series releases

as long as the assets that the engine uses are upgraded nicely then you can push the engine for years

but i will admit i think they pushed it as far as it can go...

and i do think they will take more time to make Gen 9 impressive

Maybe it’s just because I haven’t played a Pokémon game in ages, but gen 8 seems a lot easier than I remember the older games being.

I absolutely rinsed the last gym leader with an on-level Glalie...

Honestly, Sw / Sh was not worth $40 IMO

I did like most of the Pokémon, but it was just a half assed game.

Way easier than normal, ugly game, boring and just an empty world...... all signs of a rushed / lazy game

And they made you pay extra for all the good parts of the game (DLC)

The wild area and DLC? That should have been how the whole game should have been, not just an area

Personally, I would say pass on it unless you REALLY wonna play Pokémon, but overall it’s the worst game in the serious BY FAR

It deserves all the hate it gets
