    SW/SH was a glorified 3DS game

Honestly I'm replaying USUM and even it had better animations than SW/SH. SW/SH seems like a meh indie game.

Yeah, it was a glorified 3DS game, but it wouldn’t even have been a good 3DS game

R/s remakes were worse than the original imo. They didn’t really do it justice.

    HG/SS were classics tho

    Nope. ORAS wasn't good

HG/SS is probably the last game made for fans of the series.

Those weren't made specifically for the fans. BW1 was meant to be a reboot of the series. BW2 was in response of the backlash that people couldn't play with older Pokemon during the story. We almost certainly would have gotten Pokemon Grey if BW1 was more received by Japanese audiences.

HG/SS is the last games in the series to use GF old philosophy of that a Pokemon game should have as much content as possible so every player whether they're new or old could enjoy. Morimoto made HG/SS with love and was a "love letter to older fans".

Do you still have hope for gen 9?

Honestly whatever game they put out this year might be make or break

I feel like you. Whatever game comes out this year is make or break.

I honestly feel like until Masuda retire and Ohmori is removed as game director we probably won't get a proper Pokemon game. Masuda's current philosophy just isn't good for older fans or the series. He hand picked Ohmori while drunk(this is literally the story) to take over and has been training him since.

Id argue both b/w and b2/w2 had a lot of content too. Compared to hg/ss no other pokemon game had that much content but thats because hg/ss had two regions, but compared to other entries it definitely had. It was the first game to have a compelling story too, something fans always requested but never got until 5th gen.
Last thing, that doesnt necessarily have to do strictly with pokemon: game developers shouldnt only make games based on what fans would want. Id say pokemon fell off because of time constraints and not cause they're not listening to fans

What changed between gen 4/5 and now is that games are released only to promote what actually gives the pokemon company and gamefreak the most money: the merchandise. You could have monolith soft develop the region and pokemon and kojima writing the script and it still would be mid cause they wouldn't have time to work on the game. If new regions were released once every 5 years pokemon company would get less revenue and they obviously dont want that. It is what it is unfortunately

I was just shocked at how mindless the game was. I literally didn’t lose a single battle once.

    You're missing my point.

BW1 wasn't made specifically for older fans. It was actually supposed to start GF's new philosophy on games. That shifted during BW1 development to just trying to get back that spark of the original games. They wanted to lure in new fans by having them feel the same way kids did when they first played Red/Blue. This is when the current philosophy started and they no longer viewed older fans as their target demographic. GF even went theextra mile of resetting the routes, making 150+ new Pokemon, making it soonly those Pokemon can be caught just like in Red/Blue, new characters, no mention of older regions( except in post game) etc.

This all changed when BW1 received huge backlash from the Japanese audiences. They didn't want a game like BW1. So the original game that was BW2 was scraped in favor of B2/W2. They threw in all the older Pokemon in routes accessible to players, threw in kanto nostalgia, threw in old characters, etc. This even was the start of event legendaries not being so eventful anymore. They just gave them to you. Keldeo has the resolute cut scene but that's it. BW2 was the start of GF's "Players don't have time for games anymore" philosophy.

This contradicts 2009 interviews where Masuda, morimoto, and a few others said HG/SS was made with love. "It's a love letter to fans. We wanted to jam as much content and fun little throw backs as possible. We owe everything to our fans and that's why HG/SS was made"

I don't mean how much games have content, but how they were cared for. BW1 I would say was made with love too. They actually did a really good job on it. I'm also not saying BW1/2 were bad games. In fact I love Gen V, but HG/SS was the last game where nostalgia was done right in Pokemon. I mean they even incorporated aspects from Crystal and Yellow into HG/SS and added content on to Gold and Silver. They even added in DPP content to connect Sinnoh and Johto lure.

BW2 is the reason why we get s***ty games now. If you noticed, GF has been trying to get back that nostalgia feeling ever since BW1 failed. They restart routes every game and Kanto nostalgia bait every game now. It goes back to people crying about not being able to play with a effin Growlithe during a playthrough(this is literally a reason why some Japanese fans was upset LOL)

They absolutely didn't fall off because of time constraints. They don't care what fans have to say anymore. Actually I could link you to two very well done videos on how GF philosophy has changed over the years. It has zero to do with time constraints and everything to do with how they feel Fans don't play games anymore and are more into their phones now (which is a flat out lie)
