Idk, X&Y were pretty forgettable. Couldn’t play S&M cause of the cutscenes but USUM was a huge improvement. SWSH isn’t bad, I think it’s overhated. It has a lot of great features

I agree with you about the catching old mons, but I loved the unknown feeling of BW, all new mons. It’s funny to say but I think Pokémon went “downhill” afterwards cause they tried to apease gen1 fans who wanted old Pokémon (kept throwing charizard in our face) and now that same fanbase no longer gives a s*** about Pokémon. The younger gen want something more like gen 5, a region with more new Pokémon, maybe even exclusively new Pokémon. Gen 5 gets more praise now than it ever did. It was really hated when it first launched

I didn't enjoy USUM because the only thing I did like about SM was the story and they completely ruined it by changing Lilly and her mother's character arc. I guess if you didn't care about something like that in the first place you'd prefer USUM. As for SWSH I thought it was just bland and okay. Nothing offensive but nothing to remember either.

I think BW had some thing working against it at the time that people forgot.

A lot of people had felt they had outgrown Pokemon by Gen 5 so a lot of fans who had played the previous games skipped out on it. The game was also the second generation to come on the same console, before that was normal, and they expected a 3DS version to come that never did.

I also think not being able to catch old Pokemon, as we spoke about previously, had a big affect on things too.

I played Gen V when I was 14. I think that was about the time that I became truly conscious about the media I enjoyed. So I was able to fully appreciate it in ways a lot of others didn't.

It's a shame too, if Gen V had been more well received a the time I think the franchise would be in a much better place instead of them falling back into Nostalgia pandeing. Oh well.

I think SWSH is great for competitive play, breeding and trading.

Yup, I hate the nostalgia pandering. I hope future gens are like gen 5. Getting <100 new mons is lame af imo. Btw the last time 2 gens came out on the same console was gen 1 and 2. But yeah 5 came out at a very random time. I’m not sure what the targeted demographic was

To be honest I’m not a huge fan of gen 4. It’s good, but sinnoh is kind of boring. All the gen 4 kids are old now and are praising it, I get that it’s nostalgia for them. I love gen 2 and 5. Sinnoh didn’t have a lot of surfing routes...

DP were bad even to me as a kid, Platinum's additions saved that generation the same way Emerald saved Gen 3. Platinum is a game that seriously changed my life lol.

Hope the remakes are a lot faster and more fun.

Gen 2, 5, and 7 are my favorites btw.

Platinum is solid. As is emerald. Yeah I’m excited for BDSP even tho it’s getting a lot of hate. I think it’ll be a great game. DP were so slow lmao. I loved HGSS. Masterful remakes
