Yeah see we'll never get anything like this ever again. I feel like if ILCA had more pull we would have got a game better than HGSS. This was ILCA first ever game developed. If they had more time it probably would be better. At least we get the platinum outfits.

I'm not disappointed at all in what we got. Can't be worst than Shield and sword.

yeah, now that the patch is out, i'm a bit impressed. obv wish it had the platinum content (or at least battle frontier), but it looks better than it was. glad i was wrong

How is it a massive downgrade? It's a complete upgrade from the original D&P. Remakes would never have content from Platinum. ORAS already ended that precedent. We luckily got some platinum content. The underground feature that allow you to capture national Dex Pokemon before entering the hall of fame is a big upgrade over DPP. The days of the DS games is long gone and we're never getting that type of content in a Pokemon game ever again. Game Freak just doesn't care to make a game that will be replayable.

They've Definitely have heard angry fans, but they know they're a minority. They're just not going to ignore them anymore.

They made it possible to buy every TM you want at Veilstone department store and they're reasonably priced. None of that 10,000 or 100,000 for 1 TM

in context of sprite-based graphics, ds-era pokemon is pretty high up there in terms of charm and aesthetic. i still find all of the games visually appealing today.

this doesn't really meet any standards within its stylistic approach to visuals. i don't particularly mind that they opted out of creating a larger scale 3d remake, but the chibi models look like a product of limited talent/budget rather than a style that was honed by the developers to service the game's visual appeal.

Yeah pretty much.

No it's not because of a limited budget. Remakes are nothing more than a cash grab. We were just spoiled by HGSS because it was the first games during the era where GF was looking for a new game director for when Masuda finally retired. Morimoto poured his heart into the Gen 2 remakes and was still passed over for a hack in Ohmori. Even prior to HGSS, FRLG wasn't world beaters and was also shipped fundamentally broken. They were the first Pokemon games to actually get a patch and 1.2 and 1.3 cart version and they still didn't fix everything like running away from Suicune, Entei, and Raikou makes them disappear for ever until you restart the game.

These games are just that cash grabs and are pretty much an upgrade to Diamond and Pearl... Not Platinum. They improved upon a lot over D&P while incorporating some platinum features. The only thing from platinum that didn't return was Cheron, Looker, and the Battle Frontier. The patch that leaked yesterday changed teams and levels, fixed battle music, and some other stuff. I honestly don't mind the artsyle. It's a lot of Gen 4 2D nods in this game, like trainers doing their 2D Sprite post when the battle start. I'm a huge Gen 4 stan and I'm ok with what we got because I knew what we was getting. I always keep my expectations low for Pokemon games because we're never getting the old games again packed with content. As long as the main game freak team didn't touch it I was ok. ILCA did a fine job for their first ever time developing a game.

BDSP is shipping unfinished. The next patch after the day 1 patch adds features that was in the original and adding more features. They said it'll be continuing adding updates with features throughout 2022. Kind of made me realize that with some more time BDSP would have been the second best remakes ever made.
