It's not that bad. The level curve in this game actually works with it. It's the least of the issues this game has.

that gen feels so barebones now, wild area raids were the only good addition and even those got repetitive too quickly.

This is true and SWSH holds your hand. I was VERY surprised to see the starters don't start with their Elemental attack even though that's been a trend since Gen 6. They literally put you back at square one. Only think I hate is that they replaced bubble with water gun on Piplup. Then I thought about it, Water Gun isn't better than Bubble. So then again they still made it difficult. Bubble you could cheese battles by lower speed.

I'm also happy they didn't redesign characters. ORAS ruined Team Magma with those awful redesigns.

Yeah poke radar is still the preferred way to get shinies. That's why people been begging for it to come back lol
