Nah don't get me wrong it's some fantastic fan made games. Pokemon Unbound is what I like in a fan game that's not trying to be edgy, but when it is that it isn't cringy. Pokemon Prism is another game that's fire. Reborn has a special place in my heart only because of Shofu playthrough of it was hilarious. But it's the exact opposite of the fan made games I wouldn't want. Way to long, can be extremely cheap in order to create difficulty (Something I despise, being cheap doesn't = fun/difficult), way to edgy, and clunky. Give me a Pokemon Unbound or rising Phoenix any day!

ROM hacks like Pokemon Red++ and Polished Crystal are fantastic games. Those are Gen 2 ROM hacks made by someone that worked under Drayano. ALL of Drayano's hacks are amazing.

I know i played Unbound and Prism but dont remember too much about them lol, another fan games of that type i remember being good was Pokemon Gaia and Crystal Clear.

I also discovered pokemon reborn because of shofu legendary playthrough tbh Shofu was the man those days. Old reborn was way too cheap but they definitly have toned down a lot of that with every update, i think the final release coming next month and they say they made the game a lot more fair.

Yoo wasnt Rising Phoenix that fan game that had lot of potential and great graphics but that has been dead for years now? I remember playing it.

My have to try those gen 2 hack rooms u say Only gen 2 i played are the ones i said above and eevee version (its very different but i remember it being great)

Gaia was fire. I never could get into crystal clear. Red++ and Polishes Crystal are pretty much Gen 1 and 2 updated to Gen 7 mechanics and has abilities and nature's in it. It's my preferred way to play Gen 1 and 2 now.

I might check out Reborn then

Yeah, actually I haven't checked up on Pheonix Rising in years lmao. I'm not even sure where it's at in development.

You must never played Red++ or Polished Crystal. I honestly think the GBA ROM hacks are kind of boring looking because they all look the same.

I think the mixture of Gen III and Gen IV graphics is fire. Something Pokemon Unbound did.

There's no need for another game like that. Legends was clearly the true Gen IV remake and every feature from Legends will be in S/V. They did the same thing to Pokemon Lets Go. The same people saying the stuff you are said this about Let's Go. Pokemon Lets Go was clearly something that came about from Game Freak devs playing with SWSH during development. SWSH even has beta elements from Lets go and features from Lets go.

They don't need to have a Legends like game to fill in. That's what DLC is for. There will also be a season pass for Gen 9 that will be 2023's Pokemon content while Gen 10 (Something I expect to be a huge anniversary game) is being worked on. Why make a single $60 game when they can create another $90 Complete version for S/V.

Nintendo doesn't really make Game Freak milk anything. They see the positive response and will just use that to see what people like for the main series games.

It's painfully obvious that Legends is/was Gen 9's beta/play test/sandbox. Even down to the Hisiuan Pokemon already being in S/V

In fairness we've not seen anything from gen 9, too many soon to make some of the sweeping statements you're making the last few pages.
It's safe to assume the game spun off from, Pokémon for switch, since gen 8 was built for 3DS before being changed over to Switch.
It's far too soon to conclude anything at the moment, claiming Hisui pokemon are gen 9 regional variants is a bit much, off course they're going to be in gen 9 they're the newest and thing at the moment.
I mean legends is pretty much a completely different genre to mainline games, can't really say the same for pets 3 go. And lastly looking at the gen 9 protagonists, I don't think we're getting anything in the same tone as legends either, games are averse to violence against kids, and these are the youngest looking players we've had so far.

It's not too soon for this lol. Trust me on this. We've seen enough from Gen 9 to know a bit about Legends development. I only know from the decades of studying this company and having a lil bit of inside knowledge.

Idk what you're talking about spun off. SWSH started development on the switch. It was a guess or rumor that it started as a 3DS game and that's because people just don't want to believe that Game Freak are incompetent as devs. We know development of it started for the switch because of the gigaleak that happened two years ago that leaked a ton of alpha and beta games. In fact you can say SWSH was spun off of Lets go. This is why SWSH can still be played with the PokeBall accessory, but all the other features it uses in let's go doesn't work (why? Because Game Freak forget to remove it's functions during the debug process). This is also why SWSH has the same overworld gameplay as Lets go minus the small details that Lets go got because Matsuda worked on Lets Go leaving SWSH to the younger generation of GF devs. All those small details Matsuda would have added was lost during SWSH development. There's even Pokemon in SWSH beta that didn't make the final game or DLC all together. If you look at SWSH initial build it still heavily uses Lets go assets, not Sun and Moon like people thought. SWSH initial prototype build is dated in December 2017, well into the switch life cycle.

The opposite can be said of Legends, where as Legends was definitely spun off S/V. You can tell by how jagged Legends look compared to how detailed S/V look. They both have the same gameplay, battle system, and overworld system. They've deliberately shown Hisiuan Pokemon inside of S/V gameplay, something they've NEVER done before. Not even for Pokemon bank on 3DS did they show Gen 6 Pokemon in Gen 7 gameplay. They didn't even do this for Lets go to SWSH support for Home (they showed Lets go gameplay in the screenshot). Not to mention Legends doesn't have Pokemon Home support yet (That means Hisiuan Pokemon are already programmed into S/V and that means they were already there in the first place and probably started off as S/V Pokemon as this stage of the development cycle for Pokemon happen very early. They pick what Pokemon are to be in the game during the initial prototype and make changes as they go). There is also a rumor that the new games have a new Pokedex on par with Gen 1, 3, and 5. Those games have 130+ new Pokemon (if the total some how is lower that's because majority of the new Pokemon originally included those Hisiuan Pokemon) this rumor is holding water because it came from a reputable Chinese form and hasn't been debunked yet by known leakers in the Chinese community. It only make sense that they probably made way too many Pokemon and decided to make another game that feature them instead of throwing them away. Why else would their be Gen V Pokemon in a Gen IV "prequel"(Gen V also has the most new Pokemon including a new legendary that's apart of the genie trio). This is why people have come to the conclusion that Legends spun off from S/V and probably wasn't something originally planned. This is also why none of the main GF devs even worked on legends despite it being considered a "main series" game. I have to also mention that we got the announcement that Gen 9 was well into development a year ago during a Pokemon anniversary stream that announced BDSP and shown us that awful footage of Legends.

I'm not sure why you believe Legends is a completely different genre when it's not. It changes the gameplay yes, but that's only because it's just Gen 9 battle system except Legends added those mediocre boss battles and the battle styles (which has been replaced with Gen 9's own battle gimmick). They literally have detailed looks of the games on their website. Details that wasn't shown in that reveal trailer and the Japanese website has even more information. I don't know why you brought up violence and the look of the player when the characters look young but will be customizable. Hell the main character in Legends look like a lil kid before he turns into a Hisiuan version of the Gen IV protags. Not only that Gen 7 protags looked just as young especially USUM protags. USUM protags even has buck teeth added to them to make them look younger.

as someone who earns a salary every year literally arranging and selling pixels, when it comes to 2D pixel art; FireRed and Emerald tiles are some of the best for sure

but i played Unbound and loved it

I'm not saying they're bad or ugly it's just I've been playing Rom hacks for over 10 years and Gen 3 was the most used Rom hack and that's because for a long time it was the easiest to rom hack (after Gen I and II of course) compared to Gen IV and Gen V. It's just I have fatigue when it comes to Gen III Asset to the point I roll my eyes when I see another Gen III ROM hack. It sucks because Gen IV and V rom hacking scene has come a long way over the last 10 years and that's why more of those are appearing.

That's pretty much why I love Drayano's ROM hacks. Renegade Platinum is peak Pokemon and then the new following patch for Renegade Platinum adds even more to the game. The new releases of BW2 Redux are dope as well.

Most Gen III Rom hacks that remake Gen II are pretty clunky.

Gen V ROM hacks look amazing compared to III Rom hacks.

I hope the new joints at 60 fps man, I couldn't even keep playing Pokemon Legends it's so f***ing jarring to go from elden rings or horizon, then you try and hop on your switch and enjoy some pokemon and you're smacked in the face with this 30 fps monstrosity

I'll have to emulate it because I just can't deal with that drop in frame rate in 2022

It's not even Nintendo hardware as they have games on there that run 60 fps. Game Freak just isn't that good at developing games.

That's kind of why it came and went pretty fast. I remember somebody in here pointing this out and I didn't believe it until I went and looked at twitch.

GF didn't make it really have replayability.

For sure, exploring everything and finding out bout the special spawns n s*** was exciting and really fun. But once youve seen everything and figured everything out theres really not much to it, because the story fights are so short and easy.

Yeah that's a complaint everyone has about the game. The story and boss fights are half baked and give a quasi-difficulty to make it hard.

Ye that’s why I’m holding out for these new games. Arceus sounds great and I almost copped, but then they announced these new ones and if they have the same gameplay with all the amenities of a mainline game then it’s a wrap
