It’s not about A-List actors and writers how many times do we have to go over this

87% of actors don’t make enough in a year ($26,000) to qualify for health care, many writers are working second jobs to make ends meet, studios are threatening to replace human writing and performances with A.I., studios are trying to pay actors $200 to come in for one day and get scanned so they can use their image in whatever they want and own someone’s likeness in perpetuity; they’re having to fight to get basic sexual harassment protections on set, etc.

It’s about more than what they make, it’s about making working in the industry a viable career for the foreseeable future. People in this country have the choice to work in whatever industry they choose, shouldn’t they be able to make a living and afford basic things like rent and health care?

Just shut the whole s*** down, not a necessary Industry. The world goes on just fine without them.

it's like 2 to 5 percent of actors here in the UK that are able to work as an actor full time and that's a salary from like 25k all the way up to the A-List

Dunno why people think the vast majority of actors are getting paid millions.

Do you not watch TV or movies? The film and TV industry supports over 2 million jobs in this country and before COVID, the industry contributed over $500 billion to the US GDP.

Film and television is an avenue for people to tell stories, to pass things down from generations, and they contribute to culture. What you’re saying seems very dismissive of art in general, but you’re on a music forum? Yea ok

This strike shouldn’t take general precedent over issues that other people in other lines of work face. Teachers are severely underpaid as well as medical personnel. What these two strikes have done is highlight that people can stand up against the people who pay them to be treated better. Without this strike, I doubt as many people would have paid attention to the potential UPS strike that was averted yesterday. These strikes are the most visible part of a potential US labor movement, if these people can get what they want from the corporate execs, it’ll boost the morale for everyone else who is or is thinking about striking against their employers.

They think the human experience and the creative process born from it are disposable
