d**** literally effect everyone differently and the entire factor of their effectiveness in mental health is acknowledging how an individual responds to them and how it makes them feel
when you herding them like cattle into these institutions the “doctors” don’t really give a f*** about helping them. they give a f*** about sedating them. sedation works the same for literally everyone. mental health medication requires the precision these sort of places you are proposing couldn’t possibly provide, especially as you are outlining them
like you are trivializing mental health by suggesting this, at least in this fashion

My issue is that people view homelessness as anything other than a failure of the system considering the capabilities we have today.

Mentioning empty housing units seems irrelevant unless you're talking about 18.6 million run down shanty shack units that nobody wants.
No way in hell should we move homeless people into valuable units that just haven't been sold/rented yet.
Just build more shelters (NYC is building another 90 shelters this year even tho we already have more than enough room in our existing ones) and try to make sure they're reasonably safe. Anyone who doesn't want to go to a shelter needs to be evaluated for mental issues.

It's inhumane to force people on d**** against their will, and make them live in a depressing barred-window ass building away from society. And why, just because they've been deemed "mentally ill"?
And you should know by default those places have systematic abuse, the staff will do anything they want to those people and nobody will say a word.
