It was released on July 2, 2011. The start of Kendrick's career, the album that changed everything.
See, a lot of y'all don't understand Kendrick Lamar
Because you wonder how I could talk about money, hoes, clothes, God, and history all in the same sentence
You know what all them things have in common?
Only half of the truth, if you tell it
See I spent twenty-three years on this earth searching for answers
'Til one day I realized I had to come up with my own
I'm not on the outside looking in
I'm not on the inside looking out
I'm in the dead f***ing center, looking around
You ever seen a newborn baby kill a grown man?
That's an a***ogy for the way the world make me react
My innocence been dead
So, the next time I talk about money, hoes, clothes, God, and history all in the same sentence
Just know I meant it, and you felt it
'Cause you too are searching for answers
I'm not the next pop star, I'm not the next socially-aware rapper
I am a human motherfuckin' being over dope-ass instrumentation
Kendrick Lamar
This album has really been a steady playlist for my life, ever since I first heard it I'll still go back and it still sounds fresh. Although it's not my favorite Kendrick album, it is the one I relisten to the most. ADHD, Poe Mans Dreams and Ronald Reagan Era are 3 of my favorite songs ever. Nostalgia man
This is unexpected
Such a classic
"Ridin' with them boys and girls and we're high
All we want to do is have a good time
Young, wild, and reckless is how we live life
Pray that we make it to twenty-one (One, one, one, one)"
his second best album

I think Poe man dreams is my favourite Kendrick song
Something so pure about Sec.80.... the beats, just that time period kendrick free flowing all over it... before he started to be more calculated GKMC and onward
Probably in my top 10 favourite rap albums oat
Section.80 was an amazing body of work great lyrics, content was heavy, production on point definitely the best album that year.
I was anticipating Cole World at the time, this album sneaked behind it and beat it with ease
I saw him like a month or two after this open up for wiz.
Seeing he was gonna be the opener is what made me check this out
i love all of his concept albums but i can't think to not love the simplicity of section 80 as consciousness with hard word race, religion, and politics.
textbook classic, the first tracks on this are some Kendrick's best

S80 a concept album too but I agree the albums work better when they're not forced to be in a storyline, he realized this after TPAB I think. Probably the only meh thing about that album

its side thing on section 80 though while on his actual studio albums they are vital part of the album
I remember discovering Kendrick in 2011 and my older friend showing me Rigarmortus, I was in like 8th grade. I just remember watching the music video and being mesmerized and listening to that song every day on my mp3 player and memorizing all the words and trying to rap the entire last verse. That time period right before Swimming Pools came out was so special.
My favorite songs are Hol' Up, Blow My High, Ab Souls Outro & Rigarmortus
