I don’t remember who was talking about it, but they basically where saying it shouldnt be a problem for a rap artist to have as many writers as ariana grande or any other rnb/pop star. Every other genre has writers but rappers are expected to write there own songs, thats a little f***ed up.
Directors and producers dont write their own scripts and vice versa. As Jay said “It’s only entertainment!!!!”
c'mon man. if you do, it cheapens it from a hip-hop perspective. you know that. I don't even fault the ones who do but it does feel less appealing to listen to a rap song that wasn't written by that rapper, even a partial credit is better than none.
Its like saying I can’t wear jordans because Jordan doesnt actually physically make them
I feel you bro it is conflicting esp when we found out Pardison wrote all of Violent Crimes lmao
but I kinda get it, Kanye West the brand is in a sense just that, a brand. And its a brand that plays off the celebrity persona, plays off the headlines and what hes going through in his personal life. And he essentially has teams of hundreds of people contribute to his art. Even tho s*** might be ghostwritten the final product still feels authentically kanye and thats impressive
Every time this conversation happens it reminds me of when ye said that he is Shakespeare in the flesh... which is interesting because theres many theories that Shakespeare wasnt exactly one person, but a collective of the best writers/artists at the time all contributing to bodies of work that stood the test of time. In that sense Ye is kinda right
Its always important to note who Ye calls out as his influences. Its always like that whether its him saying he's Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Nike, etc...
very rarely has he said "oh im X rapper or Y singer" ... People seem to struggle with stuff like this cus they want Ye to be something he's actively not trying to be and it isn't clicking

Would you rather get the best product
Or an okay product
yes lol, it should exist this way in its current form. there’s a reason it exists this way. ghost writers can’t get it across like Ye can. better cadence voice and energy. no one wants to hear rooga lol
Huh?
What are you not understanding?
I assumed people expect some genuine involvement from Kanye in his own records, if he wants his beats premade, and his lyrics prewritten just to step up into the booth and spit them in your exaggerated a***ogy, then it's no different from kpop that many people hate for being manufactured.

The person in the interview was saying that that same mentality and ideology is what keeps the genre down instead of growing musically.
If its great its great no argument.
There are many dudes in rap who could be great if they had a couple more writers on their tracks, even if they write their own verses but gets someone to write the chorus and the composition of the track, that can drastically change song.
Pusha was saying this about The Dream on DARKEST Before Dawn because Pusha isnt a hook guy

not even that but this is the reference OP was referring to. The pieces Ye combine very rarely sound like the final product. Is this comparable to Jesus Lord?
Ohh i guess he did

Didnt get this part
“ music a***ogue of MacDonalds”

its not really about getting the best product all the time though, people like Ye use writers to generate ideas. & a lot of the time they really aren't the best Possible ideas it was just something they had at the time. there are songs on Donda where once Ye comes in it f***s the vibe of the track up bc his cadence is weird or he'll go off-beat or something. I feel like Kanye just gets writers block. that's a different thing than having an idea and bringing ppl in to refine it

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeAYfukw4QU&ab_channel=HammaDroppaThis is f***ing horrible.
Ye blessed this s*** basically.
its some verses on donda where i really hope he wrote it lmao
Kanye didn't write donda chant.
Now what
you can tell which verses are from kanye and which aren't, and you can tel what kanye does on production especially when you listen to demos for songs. Its like he didnt touch the boards on off the grid but if you listen to the original demo that 88keys posted it doesn't sound anything like the final product and is honestly mid asf
whether he writes or not nowadays idc anymore but im not using anything TLOP-onwards as proof of his “musical genius”, even if the music is good. u can’t be a genius when somebody else is producing, writing and mixing for u. at that point ur just an A&R
it’s usually obvious when kanye is the main contributor on the verses

a lot of Kanye fans would say that Donda isn't a great album though, especially when compared to his previous works. writers don't always make the song better. Kanye uses more writers than anyone and still has awful verses. so you can only really argue that if the majority of people (not the majority of ktt2.com) feel like the product is truly great

What about RNB, Pop, Electro, Dubstep, Dance, Disco???
The only genres that I know that have alot of actual live instrumentation was Soul, Rock, Funk, Jazz
And even then alot of the artists from those genres dont write their own lyrics or melodies.
Not everyone can be a McCartney, Lennon, or Clapton.
This is f***ing horrible.
Ye blessed this s*** basically.
Rooga did a good job with those lyrics but this is sometimes whats the result when Kanye isn't involved
but then we say he just has people doing s*** for him like you can remove him from the equation with the same result. cheap comparisons to Kpop and Khaled

WHAT? I thought rap is a genre that has roots in poetry, so if someone writes your raps and someone makes your beats then what do you do?
RnB/Pop requires something that maybe is in genetics like looks, stamina to dance, or voice to sing in many octaves, rap requires non of that. Rappers like Playboi Carti and others, are already turning it from poetry into some kind of chaotic words autotuned vibefest. Do you even need writers for Stop Breathing Stop Breathing Stop Breathing Stop BreathingStop Breathing Stop BreathingStop Breathing Stop BreathingStop Breathing Stop BreathingStop Breathing Stop BreathingStop Breathing Stop BreathingStop Breathing Stop BreathingStop Breathing Stop Breathing?

if this is the case you can't start at Pablo then
