Kendrick and Meek.
Wale, Big Sean, Drake, J Cole, Big KRIT, Mac Miller. Damn near everyone on Control.
Add to the fact they came up in an era where that pop-rap sound was quite popular and I'm guessing their label or whatever wanted them to match the sound for maximum success. I know Drake plastered TML with features because he wanted to spread his image more and with Krit I'm not sure why his debut ended up like that, I know the label caused the delay for sure
For me Cole is one of the biggest let downs in rap in recent times. His albums generally are still okay with FHD being his only real outstanding album but i think he can do way more and way better than he is. He was my favorite rapper up until he lost me with 4yeo and the first half of KOD. His inconsistency is annoying
He shows more hunger with loosies and guest features yet doesn't retain the same style onto his albums. I know The Truly Yours loosies was supposed to end up on BS, and those songs were some of his greatest work.

I never understood that. If he would treat every verse on his album like a feature he would have a classic in a minute. He also has to stop producing his own s*** and when he gets others producers they just give him Cole sounding beats. He needs to go way left like Flying Lotus or something. Would be refreshing

Exactly. I wish his performances on features would translate to his albums. This is partly why i think he needs to work with other producers to get him out his comfort zone.
Thank Me Later was trash too nigga add that to OP. Nigga had Alicia, Jeezy, TIP, Swizz, Jay z, Nicki, Timberland, The Dream And Lil Wayne and still dropped some mid.
Thank me later was phenomenal
I agree weakest debut from the big 3, I still played the s*** out it though. I was a huge Cole Stan back then.
You just called Work out s***ty but said Who Dat was fire
Work Out is FIRE, I love that song.
Niggas on KTT really think He Let Nas Down when everybody was bumping Lights Please and Work Out back in 2011
I don't know wtf Nas was talking about, everybody loves that song and it was getting played constantly.

TML was ok but still above SS

I know with BS he brought it upon himself, which is why I think it ended up being average too (Better than SS tho)
Work Out is FIRE, I love that song.
Imo it's only good for nostalgia, otherwise I think it's one of Cole's worst songs
Was actually surprised by the apparent bad reception of this album, never really looked at reviews or anything back then but loved it a lot. Still go back to it.
it's actually one of his better albums musically
too bad the rapping aged like horse s***
