The indie theatre by my place is playing this but it's sounding like a pass?
Sounds like if you’re looking for a conventional horror film, it’ll be a pass. This seems experimental and more in favor of creating a particular atmosphere than an engaging story. Everyone that’s seen it either loves it or hates it

It’s very experimental, atmospheric, and a slow burn without any big payoff. Not a crowd pleaser in the slightest
To give you an idea of what you’d be getting yourself into: There’s probably 20 lines of dialogue through the whole 2 hours, the shots are framed in ways that you never see the characters faces, and a solid 75% of the runtime is shots of walls/furniture/TV screens.
It’s an off putting movie, and won’t be for everyone. I didn’t care for it but I respect the uniqueness on a low budget

I'm intrigued tbh but definitely doesn't sound like a good theatre experience

If you think it sounds like a pass, then it’s probably a pass
The more I think about it, the more I want to see it again with full awareness of what it’s aiming for. Trying to capture nightmare dreamscape is such a cool idea, even if it was a little long in the tooth at points. (I read a piece about how it’s an attempt at slow cinema, but even then it was just a little too long).
How was this 15k lmao
I’m not sure how they did the upside down house shots, and they would have had to have some props made for the disappearing window shots and the model of the house. And the very minor effects in some of the jumpscare moments. Other than that idk where the money would go lol
Wish there was a way to watch at home
I watched it at home about 2 months ago lol
I didn’t care for the first 45 minutes, pretty boring, but it was effective in that it lulled me into a false sense of security. The last hour is straight up torture in the best way possible. At times I never wanted it to end, at others I wanted to get as far away from it as humanly possible.
Some dude walked out and was ranting about the movie and got into a fight with some people, I’m not exaggerating. People in the theater were dunking on him after the movie was over: “that guy made me as uncomfortable as the movie”
Interesting stuff. Might see again but I think the jump scares would be less effective.

I loved it and hated it even over the course of 100 minutes I kept going back and forth on it
100% worth a watch though. Horror movies never scare me anymore but this one had some moments.

This one looks like the movie form of a creepy pasta and I grew up loving those things. I also love the idea of the movie basically being like a nightmare. Definitely interested in watching this. Did you see it in theaters?

See my post above, it was a wild theater experience
I saw it in the second to the front row so I would be completely immersed in the screen and that worked out pretty well
If you end up just watching it on streaming, get a pair of headphones and crank em up because the sound design is a big part of the experience. It actively trolls you and is almost deafening at times.
You’re right that it’s got a creepypasta vibe and you’ll probably get more out of it if you like local 58 or late night Adult Swim shorts more than, say, The Conjuring.

Oh I absolutely do. I find that type of s*** creepier than any blockbuster horror can hope to be. Gonna try to see this tomorrow or Wednesday
Ended up liking this a lot, chilled me more than something has for a long time
I think it's a total dice-roll whether this will connect with you or not, but if you're into slow cinema, Lav Diaz, Béla Tarr type stuff, you'll at the very least be accustomed to what it does with duration, but for the most part it's far more unconventional and abstract than even what they're doing
I'd recommend waiting until it comes to streaming, turning the lights off, and giving it your undivided attention in one unbroken sitting, if it clicks with you, it'll be one of the most transportive experiences you can have with a film
The curiosity made me get tickets for Thursday
I’m so intrigued
Tell us what you think
Just bought tix to see it again tomorrow. Now that I know what to expect, it should be a vastly different experience.
Bro like that was so nerve wracking
I was actually legit scared at points
But at the same time I didn’t know what the f*** was going on
But like I f***ed with it
Man I may sound like a p**** but I might sleep with the lights on tonight on god
And I’m not one To really get scared watching horror either

Was it the scene with the mother on the bed with her back turned ?
I felt the same a bit too afterwards. I kept my tv on that night and it was odd seeing the light in the room corners. I'd say lights off would prevent you thinking of the movie. The blue light in the corners will trigger the memories lol.

That and the face at the end
